(ALBANY, Ore,) - 45 cats were found to be living in an Albany residence with three tenants over the weekend. Linn County Sheriff's deputies and the SafeHaven Humane Society responded to 38432 Century Drive in Albany on a report of animal neglect. Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller said that upon further investigation, "The residence was found in a completely unsanitary condition, with cat urine and feces throughout the house, on the furniture, counter tops, walls, personal clothing and the people living there." He says a large number of cats were in need of immediate medical attention due to urine scalding, ear and eye infections, malnourishment, dehydration, and disease. The owner of the cats, 51-year old Jean Primrose, reportedly lives at the residence with her elderly parents. Primrose relinquished ownership of the 45 cats to the Linn County Sheriff's Office. All 45 cats were turned over to the SafeHaven Humane Society for medical care and adoption placement, Nueller said. Primrose was charged with 45 counts of second degree Animal Neglect. She was cited into Linn County Circuit Court and released from custody. Articles for August 23, 2009 | Articles for August 24, 2009 | Articles for August 25, 2009 | Quick Links

This is a preventable tragedy. If more people spayed and nuetered their pets there would be less of a proliferation and therefore less for animal hoarders to "collect". Kudos to the Humane Society for helping!!!!!

OMG, that is so sad. It is absolutely disgusting how some people live and even worse how poorly they take care of their animals.
