Oregon QB Mariota Makes Manning Award Watch List

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Oregon junior Marcus Mariota is on the preseason watch list for the Manning Award as the nation’s top quarterback, for which he was a finalist last season.

The Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, is voted on by a panel of media along with the Manning family, and takes into account bowl game performances.

This season’s winner will be named Jan. 14, with finalists identified on Nov. 26.

Mariota is also a preseason candidate for the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award, and the Maxwell and Walter Camp national player of the year awards.

As a sophomore in 2013, Mariota completed 245-of-386 passes for 3,665 yards and 31 touchdowns with four interceptions. He ran for 715 yards despite being limited by a knee injury throughout November, giving him a school-record 4,380 yards of total offense for the season.
