(NEWPORT) - The Friends of Yaquina Lighthouses are sponsoring the Sixth Annual Lighthouse Photo Contest. The contest is open to all amateur photographers. Employees and volunteers (and their immediate families) of the Bureau of Land Management, Oregon Parks and Recreation Department and Friends of Yaquina Lighthouses are not eligible. Categories of photos: Monochrome or Color. One entry per contestant, per category please. All prints must be attractively matted. No frames or glass will be accepted. Shrink-wrap is acceptable. Minimum size of photo is 5”x7' on a 6'x8” mat or larger. Maximum size, including mat, is 16”x20” overall. (Please identify the lighthouse on the back) Name, address, telephone number and age group (adult or youth) of exhibitor must be listed on the back of each print. Photos will be accepted until August 31st, and will be on display in the Interpretive Center at Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area throughout the summer. No entries will be accepted after August 31st. Winners will be announced September 30th. Photos may be mailed to Friends of Yaquina Lighthouses , PO Box 410, Newport, Oregon 97365 or may be delivered to Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, Interpretive Center. Entries will be returned after the contest. (Please include return postage, or let us know if you will be able to pick up your entry.) Photos will be judged using the following criteria: Composition: overall impact of the photo, dynamic composition, effective use of color and/or contrast. Presentation: attractiveness of matting/mounting, free of surface blemishes, scratches, etc, proper color balancing and printing. Creativity: originality and imagination used in the shot.
