Three Victims Identified Following Sunday's Helicopter Crash on Oregon Coast

Police and Coast Guard officials continue to request that anyone finding debris that may be associated with this crash should not remove the debris and notify local law enforcement of its location.

The U.S. Coast Guard responded immediately to the area about a mile offshore, just south of Astoria

(ASTORIA) - Three people killed Sunday morning when their helicopter crashed into the Pacific Ocean south of Astoria have been identified by the Clatsop County Medical Examiner, Doctor Joanne Stefanelli. Next of kin notifications have been made.

The victims are identified as 46 year old Petor Friedrick Simpson of from San Diego, California who is believed to have been the helicopter's pilot.

56-year old Carol Liana Forrest of San Diego, California is believed to be the helicopter co-pilot.

41-year old Michael Todd Liliburn of San Diego California was reportedly was the helicopter cameraman.

The crew was in Oregon to participate in an event celebrating Lewis and Clark, explorers who survived their 1800's trans-continental journey with an African/American slave named York.

It is reported that the local investigation into the helicopter crash involving the Oregon State Police, Warrenton Police Department, and Clatsop County District Attorney's Office is winding down.

NTSB officials will be taking over the lead in the investigation.
