(SALEM) - People are gathering on the steps of the Salem, Oregon Capitol Building to launch the “Walk Across America” for the sake of Children everywhere suffering abuse at the hands of Parents, Relatives, Family friends, Law Enforcement and Government Agencies.

The purpose for the walk is to bring national attention to these critical situations that in some cases, are claiming the very lives of these children. Spokesperson and event coordinator Anna Guerrero says that it is in response to a Diane Sawyer Special aired June 1st entitled “A Call To Action”, dealing specifically with the tragedies of Child Abuse!

She said, “We are going from here to Spokane, WA, and then on to Washington D.C., one step at a time and we want this country to see what government agencies have allowed to happen to our children and we are demanding that our president put a stop to it”!!!

Anna says this is not meant to criticize our government agencies as much as it is to request that they start behaving more responsibly and that different laws be enacted to insure that.

It is also a walk for peace and healing.

Anna may be contacted at 541-270-6308

I think this is a great thing! People need to stand up for kids. DHS has been responsible for many deaths here in Oregon and it's just not right! You GO Girl!
