(SALEM, Ore. ) - A motorcyclist collided with a pizza delivery vehicle Monday afternoon in NE Salem.

Marion County Sheriff's spokesman Sergeant Chris Baldridge says deputies and firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after the accident at the intersection of Silverton Road near Lardon Road. The motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Silverton Road, when an eastbound pizza delivery vehicle turned in front of the motorcyclist.

When deputies arrived they could see the motorcyclist had a serious leg injury with life threatening bleeding. Deputy Casey Burnham and Deputy Mary Patzer reacted quickly and applied a combat application tourniquet to the man's leg which immediately ceased the bleeding. The deputies continued to access the man's injuries until an ambulance arrived. The driver of the pizza delivery vehicle was not injured.

The Sheriff's Office will be releasing more information on the crash on Tuesday. Salem-News.com will have more information on this story as soon as it becomes available.
