Aug-03-2006 19:56TweetFollow @OregonNews Oregon Department of Human Services Employee Arrested on Attempted Sodomy ChargeSalem-News.comThe initial examination of the data storage media on 53-year-old Charles Carrington’s home computer revealed the presence of child pornography.
(CORVALLIS) - In June, the Corvallis Police Department began an investigation after a concerned citizen reported that a Corvallis man named Charles Carrington has sexual interest in children/juveniles. Corvallis police spokesman Lieutenant Jon Martyr says the concerned citizen engaged in e-mail conversation with Carrington while posing as a 15-year-old boy. During the e-mail conversation, Carrington allegedly communicated his desire to meet with and engage in “deviate sexual intercourse” as defined in O.R.S. 163.305 (1) with the 15-year-old boy. Martyr says Carrington planned to meet the boy in person, and was subsequently arrested when he showed up at the designated meeting spot while in possession of items to be used during the planned sexual activity Martyr said. Immediately following the arrest, a search warrant was executed at Carrington’s Corvallis home. His computer, data storage media, and other items were seized as evidence. The seized computer items are currently undergoing examination by the CPD Forensic Computer Examiner. Carrington was transported to the Benton County Correctional Facility and lodged on Attempted Sodomy III (O.R.S. 163.385 - Class A Misdemeanor) charge. This case is still ongoing. Anyone having knowledge of Carrington’s illegal sexual activities involving children should call Detective Mark Posler at (541) 766-6975. My Dear Mr. SICK OF SICKOS, No one ever said that people who are pedophiles should not be removed from children. If a person is a pedophile or anything else in this life, a "One size fits all" philosophy is neither fair nor intelligent. You also obviously have no idea how common it is in a divorce for lawyers to tell one of the parties in the divorce to accuse the other spouse of molesting the children. It is a dirty world out there, false allegations, rumours, innuendo, things that are worse than pedophilia. I know, I have been accused of things I have not done by evil people (of which there seems to be an abundance of.) It is so disturbing and disruptive to feeling ok and functioning. Also one man's pedophilia may be another man's "no big deal." When I was a small child, my father would clean me after using the toilet. Did that make him a pedophile? This whole hysteria has gone too far. I am not saying there is not a real problem. But there is no one simple answer. There are worse things than pedophilia like the murder of thousands of children in Iraq in the name of democracy. Especially when we do not have a democracy here. Remember, it has been proven that President Bush had his people like Catherine Harris, help him cheat to be re-elected. We do not live in a democracy. We live in an economic and political free for all.

i THINK THAT THESE TYPE OF OFFENDERS SHOULD NOT GET SECOND CHANCES.. THEY SHOULD BE PUT AWAY FOR LIFE!!! THERE IS TOO MANY OUT THERE AND MOST ARE REPEAT OFFENDERS.. WHY GIVE THEM THE CHANCE TO HURT OTHERS AGAIN.. WHEN YOU COMMIT A CRIME TAHT INCLDES HARMING ANOUTHER HUMAN ( EXPECIALLY A CHILD) YOU SHOULD BE SEVERLY PUNNISHED!!

Great Point Robin! There is no such a thing as a thought crime although some people would have us believe so.

What about reaching out to these guys BEFORE they let their fantasies get the best of them? LOTS of people have "kinky" ideas but don't act on them. Yes, even you, or your own spouse. Maybe if the police talked about prevention and how to help yourself NOT have over-zealous sex thoughts we would have fewer first-offenders serving YEARS in prison with very experienced offenders. What this guy did is wrong, but can we go look at every guy's computer? What a shock that would be to the general public!!

Here again even in the title of the article, the word SODOMY is out of place and the wrong word. SODOMY by definition is anything other than coitus. Do you see how terms are thrown aroung in the culture and no one knows what in the hell they are talking about? Tonight on a beautiful Oregon night. Married couples all over the state are engaging in SODOMY. That is if you are lucky. The man is a pedophile not a Sodomite. ACH DU GROSSE GOTT!

It is quite hard to figure out what is right and wrong as far as laws go. On one hand people only guilty of a simple transgression of a poorly written law, on the other someone who is a danger and should never be released.
