5K Walk/Run for the Fallen

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - "Blue Star Mothers support the military, their families, our veterans, and we support and defend the Constitution of this great land, the United States of America. We are a nonprofit organization with all volunteer members."

Judy Hinsley of Blue Star Mothers of Oregon, is part of a group that takes the time to observe the sacrifices of those who have died for their country in uniform. They are inviting the public to attend their special 3rd annual Walk/Run for the Fallen.

This event will help raise funds for the upcoming Gold Star Memorial at Willamette National Cemetery, honoring Oregon's Fallen.

The group states:

"In Oregon alone we have lost 112 military during the Iraq/Afghan Wars. Our registration fee was determined by taking the amount and multiplying by $ .25 by each fallen hero. A very small price to pay for the freedoms we enjoy in our country

"Please come and honor these great men and women. If you don't want to run or walk, come enjoy the day make a donation and enter our raffle."

The day's events include a meet at Cleveland Track for the opening ceremony. Maps for the route through the neighborhood will be handed out at the track.

There is a plan to have a local band, but the performers are still to be announced. There is also a raffle, it is a great chance to show your support, and that is not a political issue, it is a human issue.
