Drowning Victim Found in Calapooia River

no one witnessed the drowning but based on evidence at the scene, investigators believe that sometime Sunday Mr. Marsh slipped from the bank into the extremely cold water and was unable to get back out.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller reports that Monday at about 3:55 p.m. the Linn County Sheriff's Office received a report of a body in the Calapooia River approximately 11 miles from Holly on Upper Calapooia Drive.

A passing logging crew discovered the body.

The County Sheriff's Office Dive Team, deputies and detectives responded to the scene and recovered the body of 56-year old Danny Mark Marsh of Lebanon.

A post mortem examination was conducted this afternoon in Portland and the medical examiner determined the cause of death to be accidental drowning.

Mr. Marsh's mother had talked to him earlier in the on day Sunday.

Aasum-Dufour Funeral Home in Albany is handling funeral arrangements.
