Money For Salem`s Kroc Community Center to be Announced Monday.

(SALEM) - Salem will learn Monday if it will receive a $60 million grant to build a new Salvation Army Community Center in northeast Salem.

Salem is one of eight western cities vying for a piece of a $375 million bequest by McDonalds`s heiress Joan Kroc.

The Salem community center would include swimming pools, a gymnasium, library, teen center, arts and crafts room, dance and aerobics studio, and a seniors lounge.

The grant would provide $30 million for construction and an additional $30 million for operating costs.
