Officials Confirm No Swine Flu Cases in Oregon

The most important thing to note at this point is that to date, there have been no reported cases of the swine flu in Oregon or Washington.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Public Health officials from the state of Oregon, Portland metropolitan area and SW Washington are holding a press event today to discuss the latest information on the swine flu outbreak that has killed residents of Mexico and reportedly has crossed the border into Southern California.

They say local response is prepared and in place should the situation elevate. They're also going to give ideas as to what people can do to keep themselves and others safe.

We'll bring you more o this later today.

The most important thing to note at this point is that to date, there have been no reported cases of the swine flu in Oregon or Washington.

People who will be in place to talk to reporters today include Mel Kohn, MD, MPH, Director of Public Health, State of Oregon, Gary Oxman, MD, MPH, Health Officer for Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington Counties. and Alan Melnick, MD, MPH, CPH, Regional Health Officer for Clark, Cowlitz, Skamania and Wahkiakum Counties, Washington.

The press conference takes place today at 2:00 in Portland .
