(SALEM) - Police in Keizer say they have arrested a 15-year old boy wanted in connection with a stabbing Tuesday on a Salem Cherriots bus and a shooting earlier in April in a Keizer neighborhood. Shortly after 2:30 AM on Monday April 10th, officers from Keizer Police responded to 760 Chemawa Road NE on a report that the front window of the residence was just shot out, possibly by a 12-gauge shotgun blast. Nobody was injured in the incident, according to Captain Jeff Kuhns with Keizer Police, who says the ensuing investigation identified 15-year old Justin Ray Balint as the possible suspect. Then Tuesday morning at 8:10 AM, Salem Police responded to the Salem/Cherriots transit mall on a report of a 17-year old boy who had been stabbed on a bus following an altercation. 17-year old Kenneth Ryan Bailey sustained non-life threatening stab wounds and was transported to Salem Hospital for treatment. Investigators say they were able to identify Justin Balint as a suspect in this case as well, and an intense coordinated investigation between the Salem Police Department and Keizer Police Department resulted in the arrest of Justin Balint on the evening of April 25th. Justin Balint was charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Menacing, Second Degree Criminal Mischief, Recklessly Endangering Another for the incident in Keizer, and Assault in the Second Degree for the stabbing at the transit mall.
