(MCMINNVILLE) - The Evergreen Aviation Museum will celebrate America Junior Aircraft Company`s founder, Jim Walker`s, 101st birthday and unveil the American Junior Aircraft Company`s Model Exhibit.

Activities include outdoor demonstrations of the famous A-J `404" Folding Wing Glider, U-Controlled models such as the Fireball, and the rubber powered Hornet.

Visitors will also be able to view demonstrations of radio and U-Controlled aircraft by the Evergreen Aero Modelers Club at the Bibbee DeAlton Field next to the Museum. Activities start at 10:00 AM.

In 1916, young Jim Walker taught himself how to build model aircraft that actually flew. He constructed an assembly line in his basement to share his discovery with others.

The American Junior Aircraft Company eventually exceeded the capacity of Walker`s basement selling over 232 million models during the company`s existence. Jim Walker also developed the system of U-Control, the folding wing glider, and radio controlled target drone.
