(SUDAN / PORTLAND) - Chad rebels entered Darfur in late January of this year, according to reports. They were brought in by the government of Sudan (GOS) who apparently told them to move into the north Darfur towns.

On-ground sources report seeing what appeared to be two battalions and approximately 500 vehicles. Currently 200 vehicles are in Wadi Dore area, a few kilometers Northwest of Kutum. Another 230 vehicles are reported to be in in Millit, 85 Kilometers north of ElFasher.

The area has been under routine attack by military aircraft every Thursday, though the past two have been calm, which is alarming residents who worry it may be the calm before a storm.

Since the invasion, there have been 11 rape cases reported to UNAMID in Millit and ElFasher.

The security situation is becoming increasingly tense as told by M: Sunday at approximately 11:15 a.m., An armed man hijacked a UN vehicle from ElFasher.

It is reported that the UN couldn't do anything, so they had to ask ElFasher GOS security intelligence to recover that vehicle.

5 vehicles of GOS-SI followed the guy and exchanged fire for about 20 minutes, and the hijacker wounded two GOS security men before he was killed. When security intelligence recovered the vehicle, they started intimidating everyone at ElFasher town.

They were saying (For those who are not with our Government, or those who help rebels and hijack vehicles - Our answer will be a bullet in their heads).

Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) Thursday accused Khartoum of preparing to launch an attack on the war-torn western Sudan region despite a peace pact. "According to reports from our commanders on the ground, an offensive is being prepared against our forces in the north and east of Darfur," JEM spokesman Ahmed Hussein Adam told AFP. "Armoured tanks and government troops are moving towards JEM strongholds right at this moment," he added. Rebels say Sudan troops preparing to attack Darfur (AFP).

Sources within Darfur have seen a cargo plane landing in the El Fasher airport after 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, an uncommon occurrence unless there is an emergency. Two 20-foot long containers were seen to be immediately offloaded using a lowbed.

One Wednesday the cargo had been confirmed “The two 20-ft containers were full of Ammunition. I am sure GOS is preparing for a big fight within the next couple of weeks. I hope, wish and pray that their target is not innocent civilians in Darfur.”

Alysha Atma spends many hours working on projects that support and benefit the belegured people of African nations who spend way too much time off the western media radar. This writer explains that she is a culmination of all her experiences, most importantly knowledge she says, and all that she still needs to learn; lessons of love, laughter and the extraordinary giving of both young and old. She says she has the enormous fortune of learning from the best; every person around her, and the amazing strength and fortitude of those she has never met but will always strive to listen to. "I continue to work and write because I believe in the power of community and the power of one, both contradictory to each other and yet can move together in a very powerful way. I feel a responsibility to use my place, freedoms and connections here in the US to stand up and yell for those who need my voice and actions. I have seen such strength in my fellow humans that I cannot even begin to comprehend, they have traveled distances, have gone without food, water, shelter and safety for days and weeks at a time. I have a responsibility as a fellow human to put our common humanity before anything else. Everyone deserves to look towards tomorrow, to dream of a safe future and to have a peaceful present."
