(SALEM) - An event next month will help you protect your families best friend!

Marion County Dog Control is offering amnesty for late fees and licensing violations as well as licenses and vaccinations from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Saturday, May 6th, at the Willamette Humane Society, 4246 Turner Rd SE.

Dr. Susan MacCarthy, DVM, will be providing low-cost vaccinations, health exams, microchipping and flea products for both cats and dogs from her mobile clinic.

Rabies vaccinations for dogs will be $10.50.

All owners and keepers of dogs are also required within 30 days of becoming a dog owner or within 30 days of moving into Marion County.

Licenses are $17 a year for neutered or spayed dogs and $32 for unaltered dogs.

Proof of neutering or spaying must be provided to receive the reduced fee.

The fee is $5 for seniors 65 and older with a spayed or neutered dog.

Multi-year licenses are also available.

PLEASE bring a check or exact change.

License fees support the work of the county`s dog control program, which rescues stray and injured dogs, handles dog complaints, and helps ensure the safety of the community through enforcement, education and mediation.

Dogs must be on leashes or in carriers.
