(SALEM) - A brother and sister from South Salem are under arrest for Attempted Murder, first-degree Burglary and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Salem Police Lt. Bill Kohlmeyer says that about 8:23 PM Monday night, officers responded to a report of shots fired in a residence at 2336 Waln Creek Dr. South. "Initial reports were that an off duty Turner police officer was holding two of the suspects at gun point. Arriving Salem police officers took Jeremy and Shannelle Harris into custody." "The victim, Darren Fall, told us that 3 or four people forced their way into his house and began shooting at him. He said he returned fire and the suspects fled." Police say the Harris' were contacted in a car near the house by a Turner officer who lives nearby was alerted to the disturbance by his son, who saw several armed people near the house. The officer then contacted the Harris' in a vehicle near the victim's house, and held them until Salem officers arrived. Two other suspects approached the car but when the officer identified himself they fled on foot. At the time of the break in there were apparently several other people in the house who fled the scene. At this time detectives are trying to determine who they are and whether they are suspects or victims. "At this point we don't believe anyone was hit by the gunfire." 18-year old Jeremy William Harris and 23-year old Shannelle Ann Harris are charged with Attempted Murder, first-degree Burglary and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Each has bail set at $90,000 and remain in custody at the Marion County Jail. Two other suspects are described only as black males 18-21 years old. They fled the scene on foot and have not been located at this point. Anyone with information on this case should contact Detective Dan Tallen at 503-588-6050 ext 7132.
