Serious Injury Traffic Crash - Highway 211 West Of Molalla

(Molalla, Oregon) - Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Saturday morning's single vehicle traffic crash south of Molalla that resulted in serious injuries to a 76 year-old Molalla man.

According to OSP Trooper Tyler Bechtel, preliminary investigation indicates on April 16, 2011 at approximately 6:30 a.m. a 2007 Honda Civic four-door driven by Lela Wilson, age 79, from Molalla, was southbound on SR 211 near S. Palmer Road when the Honda failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and crashed into a fence. A passenger in the Honda Jose Arellano, age 76, from Molalla was seriously injured.

Arellano was transported by Life Flight air ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center after being extricated by Molalla Fire Department personnel. He was using safety restraints.

Wilson was using safety restraints and was not injured.

OSP troopers from the Portland Area Command office are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. Troopers were assisted at the scene by Molalla Police Department and Molalla Fire Department.
