Child Porn Traffickers Cited in Missing Child Search
Salem-News.comIn a precedent that could have a major impact nationwide, California police say they are looking at known child pornography traffickers in a missing child case.

(TRACY, Calif.) - Police in Tracy, California, a city of 80,000 just east of San Francisco, are searching for an 8 year-old child, Sandra Cantu, who disappeared March 27th.
Now, according to the Tracy Press, investigators in the case say they are looking at 60 individuals in the Tracy area who have been identified trafficking in child pornography, along with 78 "registered" sex offenders.
It is believed to be the first time in the U.S. that police have publicly acknowledged the huge population of known but not arrested child pornography suspects in a missing child case.
While visiting the homes of "registered" sex offenders is common in missing children cases, the public is mostly unaware that U.S. law enforcement has also identified hundreds of thousands of criminals trafficking in child pornography.
Fewer than 2% of these suspects are ever investigated, as police and lawmakers focus on other priorities.
Most law enforcement agencies are reluctant to acknowledge the existence of these suspects, because doing so would put huge numbers of unsolved crimes on their boards... crimes they are not now investigating.
Pursuing the 60 known Tracy child pornography traffickers would, without question, lead to the rescue of many local children who are suffering at the hands of sexual predators, many within their own homes.
If authorities follow through on their plan, they will seek 60 subpoenas and then locate and interview these individuals. Tracy could then expect a wave of successful child pornography and child abuse investigations and prosecutions.
Tracy authorities, under intense pressure to find Sandra Cantu, have now set an incredibly important national precedent.
Their willingness to acknowledge at-large child pornography traffickers in their midst shows courage... and could help locate a child victim.

not to say that the DA said we cant blume the kids or are kids! yes its Abuse month of april!but take a good look around....do we have alot of Teen Reg sex offenders out their?that are sextexting and showing pic.(NO)what we do have is kids wanting to kill people at school,teacher,peers, and their own folks!who work so the kids can get what thy want!so who side of the line do we want to be on!yes its sad......I have kids of my own! so i do know.

I think I know where Steve is coming from. I think he was trying to get the point across that there are bad people out there but there are also kids that will get an adult in trouble if they feel like they have not been given what they want. Also, kids are allowed to do all sorts of things like sex texting and putting revealing pictures on the interenet and they don't get in trouble for what they do. In fact there is no discipline for kids anymore. They are allowed to do most anything they want without any repercussions. It is true that there are people that abuse kids. For those people that DO abuse kids, they should be locked up forever! I am very sorry for the loss of this little girl. It is tragic when someone kills little kids. My condolences to the family.

Arrest them all? All you have done then is put the monsters in cage where it costs money to keep them. NO! Instead since they are so brave with their child porn, send every unit stationed in a war zone an un-ending suply of them. Since they are so brave, they can walk ahead of the US Troop Carriers and explode road bombs and draw enemy fire-exposing the enemy's location. So we lose them all, we save that many more US Soldiers and rid ourselves of an American Pestilence at the same time. Don't make caged pets out of the enemy of children, please.

as I see it! we live in a new world. Let me start by saying this>Girls are getting preg @ 15 and younger and the dad may be 13! not to say kids put pic of them self on myspace or sextext messages to friend then it get out of hand! and some kids lie to get what thy want in life or point fingers to men who dont do nothing to them!I know some are in jail that should not be in! because the kid lied. not all kids but some!yes their are some bad men but bad women too!

Children live in inhuman conditions worldwide. Boys and girls are raped everyday in poor second and third world countries . The USA does not have the most perverted people only some of the strictest laws . This is a world problem not seen in its horror and scope by many in this country .How many children are used to make cheap imports !Thank god the Democrats got rid of child labor under FDR. Too much of the world is back to the days of Oliver Twist . Working children to death is not much better than raping them !

Kaylara~ You assume that the police are doing nothing because you are ignorant to the corroboration and evidence necessary to get one of these cases filed in court. Just because the police think they know who did it doesn't mean they can go out and grab the suspect. It's the system you should be angry with, not the cops.

Wow. It's incredibly horrifying to me that the police know and have proof about these people and their victims and have done nothing to stop it. Is this because of the war on drugs or something else maybe that we're not made privy to? What's so much more important that catching people who are trafficking in child porn or known to be sexually abusing children in their home that these people have been getting away with it? Why wasn't anything done prior to this? Why does a little girl need to be kidnapped before something is done?

Yes Ickkkkk, this country is that depraved. There are alot more child predators in the US than any other country. And why you may ask. Because we have more freedom than anywhere else. Does this make it right? NO! Thats why when you vote on things you need to read all the fine print that goes along with the subject being voted on.

Bizarre. I wish they'd stop the child smut. But I doubt there are really "hundreds of thousands" of individuals so perverted. This country cannot be so depraved... Can it?
