(SALEM, Ore.) - Israel fighter jets struck the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza Friday. Civilian casualty counts are unknown at this point. Israel also struck a Hamas military outpost and factories in Gaza. The businesses were among eight targeted locations attacked by Israeli Defense Forces, who claim that the factories were manufacturing weapons. The IDF stated that they were retaliating for recent makeshift Qassam rockets fired from Gaza. The AP reports that Israeli aircraft dropped leaflets over Gaza, warning residents of a "possible strike". This technique was used by the IDF during the attack on Gaza's civilian population over the winter of 2008/2009. The leaflets directed citizens to a designated area, and then Israel used precision weapons to kill hundreds of people, mostly civilians, by all accounts other than Israel's own. Palestinian officials said there were no immediate reports of casualties in the attacks on Gaza that began early Friday. The factories struck by Israel's fighters were located in north Gaza and in central Gaza. There were two other factories reportedly attacked in southern Gaza. "The IDF holds Hamas as solely responsible for maintaining peace and quiet in the Gaza Strip," an IDF statement read. Hamas is the legitimately elected Palestinian party, and the only remaining voice of resistance against the concentration camp that is Gaza. People live in subhuman conditions and are constantly at risk of attack by Israel's occupational military forces. Israeli newspaper Haaretz reports that the IDF strikes were a response from Israel to an operation in Khan Younis that killed two Israeli soldiers and left two others wounded. We reported Wednesday that a number of attacks against Palestinian people occurred in recent days also, though that type of information is typically not carried by American media groups. Palestinian officials confirmed that three of Friday's strikes happened in Khan Younis. Israel's aircraft also attacked an area east of Rafah, near the location where American Rachel Corrie was killed by the Israeli military. It was confirmed that two of Israel's purported 'weapons' facilities turned out to be a pair of cheese factories; one in Gaza City and one northwest of Beit Lahia. Special thanks to The Associated Press and Journalist Talal Abu-Rahmeh, who contributed to their report. After reading my comments to Joe and Dave, I would like to apologize to both of them. I am sorry for the tone of my comments and I do appreciate everyone's opinions even if I do not agree. Some topics just get my rage up and this is one of them.

What is the deal with Joe and Dave? Don't they read the news? Oh, right, they read the other side news, the Jerusalem Post probably or the New York Times. Good they are reading here on SN where they can begin to understand reality not the fantasy news service controlled by the war mongers. Or are they just part of the unwitting army of responders who antagonize people who are trying to stop war with information?

Joe, do the Palestinians have the right to defend themselves??? Or is it just the Israelis ? Did the Nazis "have the right to defend themselves" against the starving occupants of the Warsaw Ghetto? You sound like a racist moron...and Dave, when you get pushed against a wall, bombed at will, starved, your children shot by snipers, forced to live without basic needs like fresh water, well maybe you just dont care that much. I suspect you have never had an uncomfortable day in your life. Grow up little man. And what exactly WAS the "lesson" from Cast Lead?? That the Israelis are racist murderers of a captive civilian population? That Israel can use banned weapons on cities? That Israel can bomb UN food warehouses and grade schools with impunity? That Israel can herd people into buildings then shell them? (Didnt the Nazis do that?) That the Israelis think they are better than everyone else in the world? That only the handful of Israeli deaths matter, and the thousands of Palestinians who have been sniped, bombed and tortured do not? I think one real lesson from "Cast Lead" is that there are a lot of hateful racist types out there. If the shoe fits....

They launch rockets and mortars into Israel from Gaza and they kill inocent people too. Mess with the bull and you get the horns. Israel has a right to defend itself.

If this atrocity continues, Israel can just appologize, (or not appologize) in 15 years or 150 years like Serbia and Turkey and the US have done ( or not done) for their massacres of the Bosniaks, Armenians and Native Peoples respectively. And the world which stands by can point their dirty little fingers at the evil perps and feel smug that they are not the guilty nation. It is the moral duty of all to speak out against this genocide.

The Palestinians still have not learnt the lesson from operation cast lead......
I wonder..... do the palestinians have a death wish?
Tim King: I don't think so Dave, their spirit in my opinion is just too much for Israel to put away silently. The Internet is your biggest enemy and you can't do a damned thing about it. The ghosts of the dead are getting louder friend, murder is an evil sin by any account, and you are on the wrong side.
