The Salem Stampede Blast Hotshots in Home Opener

(SALEM) - Salem's own basketball team, the Salem Stampede, raised their record to 2-0 on the season with a crowd pleasing win on opening night at the Salem Armory during a 134-111 victory over interstate rival Central Oregon.

Eric Fiegi lead all Stampede scores with 35 points, Jeff Flowers had 17 points, Jeff Dunn 16 points, Michael Nunes had 10 points, and Grayson Boucher chipped-in 9 points. The Hotshots, 1-4 on the year, were led by John Randolph`s 31 points.

The Stampede, who were never really challenged by the Hotshots, led 66-46 at half. Ramon Taylor memorized the crowd with three high-flying dunks.

The Stampede are tied with the Portland Chinooks for the top spot in the IBL`s Western Division.

Fiegi is leading the IBL in scoring with a 41ppg average, The Stampede`s next test comes against the Eugene Chargers on Friday at the Morse Event Center, 828 East 11TH Ave. in Eugene. Tip-off is set for 7:15 PM. For more information on the Stampede visit their Web site at www.salemstampede.com
