Jeep Collides With Log Truck on Highway 20 Near Albany

The name of the driver of the Jeep has now been identified by OSP.

(ALBANY, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police are continuing the investigation into Thursday afternoon's serious injury traffic crash involving a sport utility vehicle and an empty log truck along Highway 20 just east of Albany.

The Jeep's driver was extricated by fire personnel and transported by air ambulance to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis with serious injuries.

The truck's driver was not injured. He is identified as 34-year-old Theodore Hilchey from Salem.

4-Year-Old Oregon Boy Dies After Falling Out Apartment Window

This case is a tragic reminder of the dangers of upper floor windows.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Portland police say a 4-year-old boy has died after falling from a third story window.

Addison Rojas-Casteneda fell from a unit at the Miraflores Apartments, located at 8925 N. Newell Ave, when the boy leaned against the window screen to talk to a friend outside.

Police in McMinnvllie Looking for Home Invasion Intruder

Police would like to remind everyone to make sure their doors and windows are locked or secured when they leave their residence.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore. ) - Police in McMinnville are searching for a suspect who tried to rob a home on Thursday.

According to the complainant, he came home and found a male attempting to remove items from the residence.

The Death of a Hero, Captain Mbaye Diagne

"A terrible loss" is an understatement for the people of Rwanda.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Mbaye Diagne Amadou Deme, Former Captain and Military Intelligence Officer of UNAMIR Force under Commander General Romeo Dallaire in Rwanda1994 before and during the genocide wrote a moving tribute to his friend and colleague, Captain Mbaye Diagne.

Captain Diagne is remembered as a hero during the Rwanda Genocide in 1994 for his selfless act in order to save hundreds of Tutsi who would certainly have met certain death.

Oregon Braces for Active Summer Wildfire Season

Hundreds of firefighters have been hired in Oregon to suppress wildfires here and in other parts of the country.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - forest fire In preparation for this year’s fire season, fire management officials are encouraging people to think about the preparations they can make to help prevent wildfires, and lessen the potential impacts of what could be an active fire season.

The fire danger for the Willamette Valley including forestland in the foothills of the Coastal and Cascade Ranges, is currently low, however, conditions are currently drier than normal. The National Interagency Fire Center expects the potential for large fires to rise to above normal in June, and remain above normal through August.

Oregon Soldiers Mobilize in Salem Before Heading for Afghanistan

Members of the unit were featured in the book The Devil's Sandbox, by author John. R. Bruning.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Oregon Army soldiers Some 400 soldiers with the Oregon Army National Guard's 2nd Battalion, 162nd Infantry, 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team are scheduled to participate in a mobilization ceremony on Saturday in Salem.

The unit, headquartered in Springfield, Ore., with companies also based in Corvallis, Gresham, and Hillsboro,will provide security and support for military facilities in Kabul and southwestern Afghanistan.
