Jefferson firefighters worked in a joint operation with Albany Fire crews to deliver the family to safety.
(JEFFERSON) -
Fire crews rescued a family of five that became stranded near the confluence of the North and South Santiam Rivers east of Jefferson at approximately 6:30 PM Tuesday evening.
Jefferson Fire District Spokesperson Elaine Parrott says Water Rescue personnel were called to assist the stranded party who ended up on a rock bar after their five inner tubes, tied together, became tangled in a tree snag.
All family members, 41-year old Frank Furnish, 38-year old Teresa Furnish, their two daughters 8 & 11, and son 7, were wearing life jackets.
National average is down another 12-cents in the past week, while Oregon prices only drop by a nickel. The national average is now $2.61; Oregon's avg. is $2.92, tied with Washington's average price for 7th highest in nation.
(SALEM) -
In the past week, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline dropped another 12-cents to $2.61; in Oregon, the price fell by a nickel a gallon to $2.92, 30-cents higher than the national average.
Salem drivers are paying an average of $2.89 while Portland residents are seeing a better average price of $2.87 for a gallon of regular.
Eugene/Springfield area regular is selling for an average of $2.92 and $2.93 is the average price for a gallon of regular in the Ashland/Medford area. Vancouver residents are paying an average of $2.87
Transferring crab permits among vessels is the primary method of acquiring a different pot limit.
(REEDSPORT) -
The Fish and Wildlife Commission temporarily suspended the five-year waiting period for transfers of commercial Dungeness crab permits to help the industry adjust to new crab pot limits.
The temporary rule will be in effect from today through November 24th, enabling commercial crabbers to make adjustments to the status of their permits before the season opens December 1st. The Commission adopted the new pot limits for commercial crabbing in June 2006.

Police investigators in Keizer are trying to determine exactly why a northbound motorcycle collided with a van Monday afternoonb on River Road, north of Chemawa Road.
Sgt. Bob Trump with Keizer Police says the 22 year old motorcyclist was transported to a Portland area hospital from Salem Hospital with serious injuries from the 3:20 PM crash.
The wreck restricted northbound traffic for River Road, north of Chemawa Road Monday for about an hour.
