(SALEM, Ore.) - oregon measure 91 Bottom Lines for Oregon Election 2014? Oregon voters are pretty savvy on a lot of issues; Oregon is a one-party state; money still exercises a lot of speech in Oregon – and “Follow the Money” remains the best political advice; New Jersey, Illinois, Louisiana, Carl Hiaasen’s Florida...aren’t the only states with political soap operas and dubious ethics...

One cannot lead off about Oregon Election 2014 with anything other than the End of Prohibition (again). Whew. It’s been a long haul. It was the fourth try here. Pretty much the sole opposition came from the Oregon Sheriffs and the State Prosecuting Attorneys, who financed the No on Measure 91 campaign. Of course, they feared their Asset Seizure and Butts-in-Jail Beds scams coming to an end.

California Voters Defelonized Nonviolent Drug Possession and Other Low-Level Crimes

Prop 47 passes in California

(SACRAMENTO) - cost of incarcerating nonviolent crimes Proposition 47, the ballot measure to defelonize minor drug possession and other low-level nonviolent crimes passed easily tonight, with the San Francisco Chronicle calling the race within an hour of the polls closing, despite dismal voter turnout in the state.

The initiative will treat certain crimes as simple misdemeanors, reducing the future prison population and authorizing resentencing for those currently incarcerated for these offenses if they prove they are no longer a threat to public safety

Measure 91 to Legalize and Regulate Marijuana Passes in Oregon!

Oregon has returned to it's GRASS ROOTS, a leader in equality and common sense.

(SALEM, Ore.) - marijuana Oregon’s Measure 91, to legalize, regulate and control marijuana, though predicted to be a tight race, won by a handy margin in a race called by the Oregonian early in the night.

The new regulatory system will be overseen by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission, in consultation with the State Department of Agriculture and the Oregon Health Authority and will allow adults over 21 to possess up to eight ounces of marijuana and grow up to four plants.

Brittany Maynard Dies With Dignity From Brain Cancer

Death Comes Peacefully After Taking Aid-in-Dying Medication

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Brittany Maynard Twenty-nine year-old Brittany Maynard's public story of bravely enduring brain cancer touched the hearts of millions of Americans. She died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 1 in her Portland home, surrounded by family and friends.

Brittany suffered increasingly frequent and longer seizures, severe head and neck pain, and stroke-like symptoms. As symptoms grew more severe she chose to abbreviate the dying process by taking the aid-in-dying medication she had received months ago.

Driver Involved in October 15 Fatal Crash Near Molalla Arrested on Drug-Related Warrant

The victim's 3-year old granddaughter received non-life threatening injuries in the crash.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Buschke A Colton man was arrested last weekend on drug-related charges associated with the ongoing investigation into an October 15 fatal traffic crash near Molalla.

During the ongoing investigation OSP seized evidence. A search warrant was authorized that resulted in the seizure of controlled substances including heroin and methamphetamine from a container found inside Buschke's car.

Salem is respecting the Oregon voters by giving patients a place to access their medicine, legally.

(SALEM, Ore.) - cannabis The City of Salem Council Subcommittee on Medical Marijuana Dispensary Regulations was formed last spring and has worked for months on a plan that would work best for all involved.

Done. The Council agreed to the detailed plan and applications for licenses to operate a medical marijuana dispensary in Salem were accepted beginning October 28, 2014. Now that the council has voted to lift the moratorium, several new dispensaries will be opening up in Salem. But what will it cost them?

Substantiated perpetrators of all types of abuse were comprised of 59% family members.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - abuse in Oregon The Oregon Office of Adult Abuse Prevention and Investigations (OAAPI) released today the 2013 comprehensive report on abuse related to seniors, adults with all types of disabilities and children in licensed treatment settings.

Last year, DHS received over 35,000 reports of suspected abuse or neglect of vulnerable Oregonians.
