Family of 7 in Gervais Sees Home Go Up in Flames

(GERVAIS, Ore.) -
A late evening fire Monday left a family of 7 without a home. Paul Iverson, Fire Marshal with the Woodburn Fire District, says fire crews were dispatched to a report of an attached carport on fire at 9:30 p.m. Monday evening.
"The first arriving engine called for a second alarm due to the fire extending into the home," Iverson said.

Marion County Investigators Seek Suspect in Woodburn Shooting

(WOODBURN, Ore.) -
The Marion County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that occurred Friday, just after 10:00 p.m. at 12042 Carl Road outside of Woodburn.
Deputy District Attorney Jodi Bureta says the shooting resulted in the death of a 32-year old Woodburn man whose name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

FBI seeks Woodburn Bank Robbery Suspect

Witnesses describe the man as White, approximately 30-years old, 6’4", weighing about 180 pounds.
(WOODBURN, Ore.) -
The FBI and the Woodburn Police are releasing bank surveillance photos of a man and a get away vehicle believed involved in a bank robbery, which occurred on July 6, 2009, at approximately 10:28 AM, at the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 2600 Newberg Highway, in Woodburn, Oregon.
The FBI and Woodburn Police Department are asking the public's help again in an effort to generate tips as well as to corroborate information on an unidentified potential suspect.

Coos Bay Man Arrested for Slashing Throat of Oregon Auctioneer

Deputies located the suspect in a trailer park just over one mile from the auction.
(WOODBURN, Ore.) -
A Coos Bay man is under arrest today for taking out a boxcutter and attacking an Oregon Auctioneer at the Woodburn Auction on Highway 99, South of Woodburn.
About 80 people were in attendance at 11:50 a.m. when 22-year old Jeremiah Thomasson reportedly attacked Chuck Boyce over a two dollar bid. Boyce is an Oregon native and a longtime auctioneer. Friends describe him as an intelligent and considerate individual and express outrage over the attack.

Driver Arrested in Fatal Traffic Crash on Interstate 82 (PHOTOS)

Before the fatal crash, the pair of men, enroute to a funeral in Salem, Oregon, were cited by police in three states for speeding.
(UMATILLA, Ore.) -
Oregon State Police troopers arrested the driver of a van involved in Friday morning's fatal traffic crash that resulted in the death of a Forest Grove-area man on Interstate 82 south of Umatilla.
Prior to the fatal crash the driver, who was lodged in the Umatilla County Jail on multiple charges, had received speeding citations earlier in day from police agencies as he traveled through three other states.

Police Investigate Fatal Crash with Multiple Injuries on Highway 214

Police say more information will be released later Saturday following the initial investigation.
(WOODBURN, Ore.) -
Police are on the scene of a fatal traffic crash on Highway 214, Wilco Highway, and Monitor-McKee Road. This is a rural area between Woodburn and Mt. Angel.
There are few details at this point. Police reported two vehicles with other multiple injuries also stemming from the crash. The highway is closed at that intersection and anyone passing through will need to take alternate routes until the scene is cleared.

After a chase that reportedly reached speeds of 140 mph, the suspect's "crotch rocket" ran out of gas.
(WOODBURN, Ore.) -
Police say a Vancouver, Washington man was arrested early Friday after running out of gas on his motorcycle following an attempt to elude state, county and city police officers in an incident that started on Interstate 5 south of Woodburn and ended on the Interstate 205 Glenn Jackson Bridge.
Troopers say that at times, speeds were reported in excess of 140 mph.

Oregon Troopers Make Second Large Suspected Cocaine Bust in Less than a Week

The traffic stop led to the discovery of approximately 51 lbs. of suspected cocaine with an estimated value of about $700,000.

In less than one week, Oregon State Police troopers have made a significant seizure of suspected cocaine during a traffic stop.
The latest traffic stop Thursday afternoon on Interstate 5 north of Woodburn led to the arrest of three men and the seizure of approximately 51 lbs. of suspected cocaine.

Two Die as Truck Carrying Six Slams Into Semi

Police say the driver of a commercial truck in a ditch and blocking the road, tried in vain to warn the approaching vehicle.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
Oregon State Police troopers are investigating a Friday morning fatal traffic crash that took the lives of two people on Highway 99E about three miles north of Salem.
The two Hispanic male victims have not been positively identified. Names of the others involved in this crash are being released.
OSP Sergeant Dale Young says Friday at approximately 6:02 a.m., a report was received of a commercial truck in a ditch blocking Highway 99E near Barbara Avenue NE north of Salem.

The memorial service for Capt. Tennant was extensive and somber. People came out in icy cold weather to pay their respects for this officer who fell in the line of duty.

Captain Tom Tennant and Oregon State Police Senior Trooper Bill Hakim died Friday, December 12th, when an explosive device detonated at a Woodburn area bank.
Today, Captain Tom Tennant was laid to rest after a special memorial ceremony attended by hundreds. The two officers, along with Woodburn Police Chief Scott Russell and a bank employee, were involved in the explosion. Chief Russell suffered serious injuries and the bank employee suffered minor injuries.
