Coast Guard, Local Agencies Search for Two Missing Fishermen Near Yachats

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the missing men should contact the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

(ASTORIA, Ore.) - Two miles south of Yachats, Oregon The Coast Guard is searching for two missing fishermen two miles south of Yachats, Oregon Thursday. 62-year old Bill Bodewig and 23-year old Nick Lutz, both from the local area, were reported missing late Wednesday night to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

An HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Facility Newport, Oregon, searched at first light and discovered a fishing pole and two backpacks in the area the fishermen were last reported.

Current High Surf and Wind Warnings for Oregon

High surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.

(SALEM, Ore.) - rainy traffic picture A High Surf Advisory and High Wind Warnings are now in effect, and will remain so until 10:00 a.m. Tuesday for the entire Oregon coastline and the Coast Range.

During the storm, seas will climb to 23-27 feet, with periods around 11 seconds. Seas have already reached 23 feet off the mouth of the Columbia River, and will peak closer to the value of 27 feet tonight, during the strongest winds.

Pacific City Man Arrested for Murder in Missing Albany Fisherman Case

John Curtis Adkins has been missing since last July.

(PACIFIC CITY, Ore.) - 47-year old Erin Dean Rieman of Pacific City A Pacific City man is under arrest on Murder charges. Police say the arrest is connected to the disappearance of an Albany man missing since last July, who was the owner of a 47' fishing vessel.

The suspect was arrested in Oregon and is pending extradition to Washington State for arraignment related to the murder of 53-year old John Curtiss Adkins.

Police Confirm Fatality in Highway 101 Crash South of Cannon Beach

OSP troopers from the Astoria Area Command office and OSP collision reconstructionists are continuing the investigation.

(CANNON BEACH, Ore.) - Fatal crash Police say one person died and four others were injured Wednesday evening in a two vehicle head-on crash on Highway 101 about one mile north of the Arch Cape tunnel south of Cannon Beach.

Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation and the highway may be re-opened by midnight. All names will be released Thursday morning.

Fatal Traffic Crash Blocking Highway 101 South of Cannon Beach

Drivers planning to drive south of Cannon Beach should be prepared for delays at minimum.

(CANNON BEACH, Ore.) - Fatal crash Oregon State Police are on the scene of a fatal head-on crash on Highway 101 north of Arch Cape tunnel about six miles south of Cannon Beach.

OSP reports that the head-on crash with a confirmed fatality has Highway 101 blocked, with Oregon State Police troopers and local emergency agencies responding and on scene.

Police Release Photo of Missing Fisherman

The Coast Guard located the boat Friday afternoon in the Pacific Ocean, about two miles off shore from Nehalem Bay, overturned, with no sign of the missing man.

(TILLAMOOK, Ore.) - Missing fisherman, 62-year old Robert Shaw of Washougal, Washington, Police are hoping a photo may lead to the location of a missing fisherman, 62-year old Robert Shaw of Washougal, Washington, who failed to return to Wheeler, Oregon in his 12-foot fishing vessel after a Thursday fishing trip, his wife said.

Shaw reportedly went fishing alone on his 12-foot boat Thursday in the area of the lower Nehalem Bay in northern Tillamook County.

Coast Guard Suspends Search for Missing Fisherman (PHOTOS)

Coast Guard crews and local agencies searched for a 65-year old man who was reported overdue from a fishing trip.

(ASTORIA, Ore.) - An overturned skiff found by the Coast Guard while conducting a search for a missing boater near Nehalem, Ore., Friday, Oct. 9, 2009. The Coast Guard suspended the search for an overdue 65-year-old fisherman who was reported missing in Oregon's Nehalem Bay Friday.

The Coast Guard searched for the fisherman approximately five hours before suspending the search pending any new information that would assist in locating the man.

Oregon Man Cited for Possession of Great White Shark caught in August.

(NEWPORT, Ore.) - Great White Shark Caught August 8, 2009 and landed in Depoe Bay An Oregon fisherman from the town of Warren will pay a fine of $299.00 for harvesting a 12-foot Great White August 8, 2009 and gutting it on the docks at Depoe Bay.

Angler Jason W. Robinson, age 32, of Warren, Oregon, told an investigating state police trooper that he was responsible for the shark, and that it become entangled in their crab gear and was pulled to the surface when they were bringing in a crab pot.
