I ended up in a seven private section with 18-year old boys. They were still exuberant boys and I had little in common with them except the Army BS.

Remembering Miep Giles at 100 years-old.

(LOS ANGELES) - Miep Giles Miep Gies, the last of the brave helpers who hid Anne Frank and her family during World War II, died at the ripe old age of 100, but if that wasn’t enough of an achievement, her actions during World War II rose her to the status of “Righteous Gentile” in her efforts to battle the Holocaust.

Miep lived in Amsterdam during the war, and had it not been for her, it’s doubtful the world would ever have known the name Anne Frank.

A WWII Army Combat Vet's words to his grandson serving in Iraq.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Dr. Leveque and his grandson are both Army combat veterans, one served in WWII and one is presently serving in Iraq. Being in the Infantry is like no other kind of experience. Basic Infantry training is almost nothing like anything else a young man will do. It is almost the measure of a man even if he is only eighteen.

The physical work putting muscles on a young man where none existed before is damned hard work. It is not surprising looking back that so few were “washed out”.

It took me about 20 years before I could think about or talk about WWII. Many of my fellow Dogfaces still can’t.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Scenes from the Battle of the Bulge in WWII This time of the year around Veteran’s Day and the Anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, we 'Dogface' Infantry Veterans of WWII in Europe pause in thankful reflection of the nearly unbearable sacrifices of our fellow soldiers in that battle.

20,000 young American boys, mostly under 20 years old, died and 80,000 more were wounded or captured.
