(RICKREALL, Ore.) - Legacy vineyards Eola Hills Wine Cellars invites the public to view the stars at its Legacy Estate Vineyard in Salem (located at 1600 Oak Grove Rd) on the evening of Friday, July 17.

Members of the Salem-based astronomy club, Nightsky 45, will be on hand with their telescopes and knowledge about features visible in the night sky - from the moon to familiar constellations named after months of the Zodiac.

Newport Seafood and Wine Festival Wine Competition Winners Announced

Four wineries from Oregon and one from Washington took home two gold medals apiece

(NEWPORT, Ore.) - wine competition And the winner in a starring role as Best-Of-Show wine at the 2015 Newport Seafood and Wine Festival Commercial Wine Competition is... (hold the drum roll): Emerson Vineyards 2013 Willamette Valley Pinot noir.

From 167 wines (36 Pinot noir entries) in the just-concluded competition, this Pinot impressed the five-member judges’ panel as balanced, expressive of its fruit and a charming representative of Oregon’s signature wine varietal.

Willamette Valley Vineyards Posts Second Quarter Profit

The primary reasons for this increase are an increase in direct sales which partially offset a decrease in sales through distributors.

(TURNER, Ore. ) - Willamette Valley Vineyards Willamette Valley Vineyards, a leading Oregon producer of Pinot Noir, generated net income of $546,535, or $0.11 cents per share, for the second quarter of 2014.

That is up from $521,125, or $0.11 cents per share, for the corresponding prior year period, representing a $25,410 or 4.9 percent increase in net income compared to second quarter 2013.

The market is ripe for the picking when it comes to investments in the wine industry.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon vineyard Recent polls showed that nearly 10-percent of Oregon winery owners are considering a sale in the next five years. In addition, 31-percent said they’d be open to a sale right now if conditions were favorable.

While the sheer number of wineries considering sales looks problematic on the surface, it opens up the market for opportunistic entrepreneurs that are primed to make their mark on the industry.
