Vancouver Police Officer Shot: Two in Custody (UPDATE)

The search for the police shooting suspects ends.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Salem-News.com A manhunt has ended in SE Portland for two suspects involved in the shooting of a Vancouver, Washington police officer tonight around 9:20 p.m.

The officer is a Vancouver PD sergeant. He was shot during a traffic stop. The bullet struck the officer in the chest but his bulletproof apparently saved his life.

DUII Injury Crash Sends Vancouver Woman to Hospital and Leads to Charges

Traffic on Highway 224 at the scene was down to one lane for an hour.

(CARVER, Ore.) - DUII involved crash in Carver, Oregon 4-12-09 Oregon State Police say they cited a Vancouver, Washington woman for DUII Saturday evening after the car she was driving flipped onto its top on Highway 224 east of Carver, leaving her injured.

OSP Trooper Justin Lane says preliminary information indicates that 46-year old Robyn Renee Thompson's blood alcohol level was more than 4 times the legal .08 limit.

Crude Prices Jump, but Gas Prices Hold Fairly Steady

Oregon's average for regular unleaded drops half a cent to $2.06 this week.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Gas nozzle The price of crude oil reached its highest price in about two months this week, but drivers are not seeing any dramatic swings in gas prices.

Oregon's average for regular unleaded drops half a cent in the past week to $2.06, while the national average gains a penny to $1.94.

Vancouver Police Investigate Homicidal Stabbing

The name of the victim and suspect are not being released at this time as police and the Medical Examiners Office will be working to notify family members.

(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - Stabbing Vancouver Police responded to 405 Memphis Way at approximately 5:00 a.m. today over a disturbance at the residence.

Sergeant S. Creager with the Vancouver Police Major Crimes Unit says officers arrived and found a female victim who had been stabbed with an unknown weapon. The victim subsequently died.

Police Arrest Vancouver Man in Murder of Alicia Nipp

(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - 30-year old Darrin Eugene Sanford of Vancouver Detectives from the Clark County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit arrested 30-year old Darrin Eugene Sanford of Vancouver today ar 6:30 p.m., for the murder of 13-year old Alicia Nipp.

"Sanford is one of a number of transient sex offenders living in the Hazel Dell area. Detectives, working in conjunction with Department of Corrections developed information regarding Sanford's whereabouts on Saturday and Sunday," Clark County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Scott Schanaker said.

UPDATE: Missing 13-Year Old Girl Found Dead in Clark County

Investigators say it appears that the young girl died of homicidal violence.

(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - Death Investigation Police say that on February 22nd at approximately 1:00 a.m., Clark County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a residence in the Hazel Dell area of Clark County on report of a missing 13-year old girl, Alycia D. Nipp of Vancouver.

Sgt. Scott Schanaker with the Clark County Sheriff's Office, says that upon arrival, deputies were told that Alycia had last been seen by family and friends around 5:00 p.m. when she had walked through a field north of the Goodwill on NE 78th Street.

Oregon Gas Prices Edge Up Over the $2 Mark

Both national and state averages have jumped up about 14 cents in the past month.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Gas pump Oregon's average for regular unleaded is now more than $2 a gallon, and the national average is close behind. Oregon's average jumps up nine cents in the past week to $2.05, while the national average increases four cents to $1.93. Both averages are up about 14 cents in the past month.

AAA Oregon Public Affairs Director Marie Dodds says, "As pump prices rise, the cost of crude oil is still in the basement at about $40 per barrel. There's been a disconnect between oil and gas prices since the start of 2009 as U.S. refiners processed less crude oil and slashed their gasoline output."

Vancouver Police Investigate Double Homicide

The Vancouver Police Major Crimes Unit is investigating this incident; at this point there is no suspect information and no arrests have been made.

(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - Homicide investigation Vancouver Police officers responded to a radio call of "Shots Heard" last night around 7:15 PM.

Officer Ilia Botvinnik with Vancouver Police, says that upon arrival at the location in the 7000 block of Indiana Street, officers found two adults lying on driveway of a residence.

"Both individuals were deceased, suffering from gunshot wounds," Botvinnik said.

Crude Prices Fall while Gas Prices Keep Climbing

As a new U.S. president begins his term, there seems to be a disconnect between oil and gas prices. Crude oil has been hovering below $40 per barrel, yet we've seen pump prices increase. In fact, our Oregon average is up 23 cents in the past month to $1.96 a gallon.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Oregon gas prices Oregon AAA's Marie Dodds says gas prices seem to be defying gravity as they continue to rise, even though crude prices have been hovering below $40 per barrel.

Last Friday, crude closed at $34.78, the lowest price since April 2005, when the nationwide average for regular unleaded was $1.76 per gallon. The national average now is $1.84, up five cents in the past week. Oregon's average increases four cents to $1.96.
