Armed 87-Year old Woman Dies After Being Tased by Clackamas County Deputies

Deputies say they disarmed a threatening woman who had a handgun with the use of a Taser; she was pronounced dead an hour later.

News Release on Taser Incident Involving Salem Youth

(SALEM, Ore.) - Taser investigation On June 16, 2010 at approximately 6:00 a.m. OSP SWAT team members were assisting with the execution of multiple search warrants in the Salem area as part of an ongoing multi-agency narcotics investigation.

Oregon State Police SWAT team members were serving one of the search warrants in northeast Salem when upon entry into a residence troopers encountered a 16-year old male who physically resisted efforts to take him into custody.

Salem Police Taser Use Blamed in $6M Wrongful Death Lawsuit

The lawsuit claims Rold's civil rights were violated, the police officers' negligent actions caused his death and excessive force was used against him.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The city of Salem and Salem police face a wrongful death lawsuit concerning excessive force with the use of a Taser. The family of a Salem man who died after Salem police hit him with a Taser has filed a multi-million dollar wrongful death lawsuit against the city, several city employees and police officers.

The suit is seeking upwards of $1.5 million in compensatory damages and $4.5 million in punitive damages, as reported by the Statesman Journal.
