Corban Men`s Basketball Inks Seven Recruits

Follow Corban College Athletics all season long on Salem-News.com Sports.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Corban College Salem Oregon Corban University head men's basketball coach Steve Masten announced that seven recruits would be joining the Warrior men's basketball squad for the 2014-15 season.

Five of the seven recruits have ties to Oregon. With two playing high school basketball at South Salem and McKay High Schools in Salem.

Three Oregon Players Among Rimington, Mackey Award Nominees

Also Tuesday, junior Pharaoh Brown and sophomore Johnny Mundt were named to the preseason watch list for the John Mackey Award.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Oregon Ducks Football Senior center Hroniss Grasu and two young tight ends were the latest Ducks named to preseason awards watch lists, as announced Tuesday.

Grasu was previously announced in May as a member of the watch list for the Rimington Trophy, which again released its list of preseason nominees Tuesday. Grasu was a finalist last season for the award, which goes to the nation’s best center.

Beavers Isaac Seumalo Named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List

Seumalo, a Corvallis native and son of OSU defensive line coach Joe Seumalo, has started all 25 games in which he’s played in his two-year career.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Oregon State center Isaac Seumalo Oregon State center Isaac Seumalo has been named to the Rimington Trophy Fall Watch List, the Rimington Trophy Committee announced Tuesday.

Seumalo is among 66 nominees honoring the most outstanding center in college football. The athletes on the list have excelled at the center position and demonstrated team leadership, and are predicted to do so again in the upcoming season.

Oregon State Freshman Qualifies for U.S. Amateur Championship

Andrej Bevins, a rising sophomore at the University of New Mexico, won the qualifier with a 9-under 65-68--133.

(CHICO, Calif. ) - Oregon State Golfer Tyler Collier Incoming Oregon State men’s golfer Tyler Collier qualified for the 2014 U.S. Amateur Championship by advancing through a sectional qualifying tournament at the Butte Creek Country Club in Chico, Calif., on Tuesday.

Collier shot a pair of 2-under 69’s at the qualifier to tie him for second place with two golfers through the 36 holes of stroke play.

Oregon Football Quartet Named to Award Watch Lists

Mariota figures to be a solid candidate for national awards in 2014 after opting to pass up the NFL draft.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Oregon Quarterback Marcus Mariota Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota and three teammates were named Monday to preseason watch lists for prestigious national awards.

Mariota, running back Byron Marshall and running back Thomas Tyner made the watch list for the Maxwell Award.

Former Oregon State Trio to Play in NBA Summer League

NBA TV will televise all 67 games, including a total of 38 games live during the event, including the Championship Game on July 21.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Oregon State NBA Former Oregon State men’s basketball standouts Jared Cunningham, Eric Moreland and Roberto Nelson will compete at the 2014 Samsung NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Nev., from Friday, July 11 to Monday, July 21 at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion.

Cunningham and Moreland will both play for Sacramento, while Nelson will suit up for Charlotte.

The Beavers season begins Aug. 30 at Reser Stadium against Portland State.

Mannion, a senior from Pleasanton, Calif., is in the process of re-writing the Oregon State and Pac-12 Conference record books.
