Enigmatic 45th Parallel

Fascinating story about historic churches from our reporter in Salem, Oregon's sister city in the Ukraine.

(SIMFEROPOL, Ukraine) - Images of rock marking 45th parallel and the various churches in the Ukraine courtesy: Oleg Shorokov A Few months ago, a new sign was erected on the top of a mountain called Uzun-Syrt - the sign of the 45th parallel.

This line circles the earth, it also divides Crimea into two parts, across the Simferopol. It is interesting that the two sister cities of Simferopol – Kechkemet in Hungary and Salem, Oregon in the U.S., are also situated on the 45th parallel.

Lenin's younger brother – Dmitriy, is even less known. His fate was sealed in Simferopol.

Plane Crash in Russia: Tragedy for Poland

New presidential elections will be held before June 20.

(SMOLENSK / PATAGONIA) - Tupolev TU-154 A large contingent of high ranking Polish civilian and military leaders were killed this morning in a fiery crash at an airport near Smolensk in Russia.
