Coast Guard Rescues Two Brothers and a Dog from 300-foot Ravine (VIDEO)

The brothers were located and a rescue swimmer was lowered into the ravine and located the brothers and their dog.

(ASTORIA, Ore.) - Salem-News.com The Coast Guard rescued two brothers, six-years-old and seven-years-old, from a 300-foot ravine at Cape Kiwanda, near Pacific City, Oregon Tuesday.

Coast Guard officials say the mother of the boys called 911 at approximately 12:45 p.m., after the brothers had ventured down to the bottom of the ravine and were unable to find their way back up.

Search Suspended for Missing Boater near Astoria, Oregon

The Coast Guard Air Station in Astoria received the report at 12:26 p.m. and dispatched an HH-60 helicopter crew while a 25-foot motor lifeboat crew left from Coast Guard Station Cape Disappointment, Washington.

(ASTORIA, Ore.) - Tongue Point in Clatsop County, Oregon Coast Guard officials say the search has been suspended for a man at Tongue Point who went missing Sunday after the boat he was in struck a submerged object and capsized.

The Clatsop County Sheriff's Office has dispatched a dive team to the area hoping to find some sign of the missing man.

Injury Crash Leads to High Angle Rescue Near Carver (PHOTOS)

Injury Traffic Crash and Subsequent High Angle Rope Rescue by Fire Personnel on Highway 224.

(CARVER, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Police say three people received non-life threatening injuries Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 224 about 2 1/2 miles east of Carver.

Lieutenant Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police, says one of the vehicles traveled off the highway and down an approximate 80-foot embankment from which the occupant was removed by a coordinated effort involving personnel from Boring and Clackamas Fire districts and American Medical Response.

Second Dramatic Rescue Underway on Mount Hood (UPDATE #2)

Rescue personnel indicated at 10:30 a.m. that the patient is being packaged for carry by rescue personnel to the Devil's Kitchen area of Mount Hood.

(MT. HOOD) - Hog's Back on Mount Hood A second rescue on Mount Hood was launched this morning for a climber who reportedly fell 500' while climbing on the Hogs Back – at the 10,600' level – on Mount Hood.

Rescuers were going to airlift the climber from the mountain, but Army Guard Helicopter crews say they're concerned with the helicopter rotor vibration that may create additional hazards on the present delicate and unstable surface of the mountain.

Climber Rescued From Mount Hood by Clackamas County SAR (PHOTOS)

A successful rescue demonstrates skills of area emergency response teams.

(MOUNT HOOD, Ore.) - A 34-year old female climber was injured while ascending Mount Hood, near Crater Rock early Saturday morning. Clackamas County 9-1-1 received an emergency cell phone call at 5:20 a.m. from a member of the 10-person climbing party on Mount Hood.

It was reported that falling ice and debris had struck Jessica M. Deans, a member of their climbing party, causing injuries to both her legs; however, the injured party was conscious and breathing.

One Person Remains Missing in the Clackamas River After Rescue

Clackamas officials say two people were rescued.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - Oregon river A report of a man in the Clackamas River having difficulty came in this afternoon at 4:50 p.m., Detective Jeffrey Green with the Clackamas Sheriff said.

Witnesses reportedly saw a person floating into the area of the rapids and not coming up, near the walking bridge between Gladstone and Oregon City.

Climber Falls at Rocky Butte (PHOTO SERIES)

It's estimated that the man fell approximately 35 feet.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Rescue at Rocky Butte, Oregon 2-3-09 Portland Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a report of a fallen climber on Rocky Butte today at about 4:00 p.m.

Lt. Allen Oswalt with Portland Fire, says firefighters arrived within a few minutes but had trouble getting an exact location from the caller.

"Rocky Butte has many trails and most are unmarked so locating an injured person is always a challenge. After about 30 minutes firefighters located the victim and began treating his injuries."

Coast Guard Airlifts Crewman 150 Miles Offshore (VIDEO)

The Coast Guard conducted a medevac of a crewmember off the 623-foot container ship Dapenghai 150 miles west from the entrance of the Columbia River Saturday.

(SEATTLE) - Crewman being airlifted from the 623-foot container ship Dapenghai In this video released by the Coast Guard, an HH-60 helicopter crew from Air Station Astoria, Ore., conducts a medevac of a crewmember off the 623-foot container ship Dapenghai 150 miles west from the entrance of the Columbia River. The rescue was completed Saturday, Jan. 17th 2009.

Officials say the rescue helicopter crew transported the crewmember to an awaiting Life Flight helicopter crew at Astoria Regional Airport.

Around 8:30 AM Saturday, the Coast Guard Air Station Astoria, Ore., launched an HH-60 rescue helicopter crew to the scene, after receiving a report of a 36-year-old male crewmember suffering a possible stroke.

Portland Mountain Rescue Mountaineers Successfully Rescue One of Their Own

An Oregon Guard helicopter safely evacuated the injured climber and transported him to OHSU.

(MOUNT HOOD) - Pearly Gates Mt. Hood Police say an experienced mountaineer encountered falling ice while ascending Mount Hood Saturday morning around 10:21 AM, near what is referred to as the Pearly Gates portion of Mount Hood, with an elevation of approximately 10,000'.

45-year old Michael R. Leming of Portland, Oregon, a mountaineer, was struck with a ‘shower of falling ice', which caused this climber to fall a reported 200', says Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Detective Jim Strovink.

"As a result of this violent fall, the climber suffered at least one broken ankle and was totally incapacitated. The injured climber was ascending the mountain with two other experienced climbers at the time of this incident. All members of this climbing party are well equipped and experienced climbers," Strovink said.
