Corelogic Releases 2010 Mortgage Fraud Trends Report

Risk decreased 25 percent since 2007, yet one in 200 loans still contain misrepresentations that lead to default.

(SANTA ANA, Calif.) - Mortgage debt CoreLogic announced the release of its 2010 Mortgage Fraud Trends Report, a detailed analysis of US mortgage fraud rates and trends.

The CoreLogic Fraud Index™ shows that fraud risk in the mortgage industry has declined by 25 percent since it peaked in the third quarter of 2007.

How Long Will Negative Equity Last?

Over the next 10 years, the average loan balance will decrease by an annual rate of 3.3%; meanwhile home price are expected to increase at a 3% annual rate over the next decade.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com First American CoreLogic estimates that the typical U.S. homeowner who is in a negative equity position will not experience positive equity until late 2015 to early 2016. In some depressed markets, the typical borrower in negative equity may not experience positive equity until 2020 or later.

For the foreseeable future, decline in negative equity is driven slightly more by amortization than by home price appreciation trends.

Underwater Mortgages On the Rise

In Salem, 16.0 percent, or 10,897, of all residential properties with a mortgage were in negative equity for Q4 2009., according to First American CoreLogic Q4 2009 Negative Equity Data.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Mortgage Underwater More than 11.3 million, or 24 percent, of all residential properties with mortgages were in negative equity at the end of the fourth quarter of 2009.

This is up from 10.7 million and 23 percent at the end of the third quarter of 2009.

December Home Price Index Shows Narrowing Decline, Slowed Recovery

New report from First American CoreLogic shows home Prices Exhibit "Improving Declines".

(SALEM, Ore.) - Aerial view of Salem, Oregon National home prices, including distressed sales, declined by 3.7 percent in December 2009 compared to December 2008, according to First American CoreLogic and its LoanPerformance Home Price Index (HPI).

This was a significant improvement over November's year-over-year price decline of 5.3 percent.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Foreclosure for sale sign National home prices, including distressed sales, declined by 5.7 percent in November 2009 compared to November 2008, according to First American CoreLogic and its LoanPerformance Home Price Index (HPI).

This was an improvement over October's year-over-year price decline of 7.6 percent.
