John Michael Talbot Coming to Salem, Oregon Parish

“Revenge is mine sayeth the Lord.” “Violence begets violence, hatred begets hatred, terrorism begets terrorism,” so rings the prophetic knell of the Reverend Wright

(SALEM / NEW YORK) - John Michael Talbot Prophets fare poorly in their own country, yet countries would do well to hearken to their prophets.

Scorn, ridicule, and innuendo attend their pronouncements as the righteous defend their actions as logical, existential and necessary. Jeremiah Wright suffered such scorn and mockery because he understood the consequences of revenge on the innocent and the defenceless, justified by whatever inane discourse.

Urging Obama to Stop Rush to Iran War

War propaganda against Iran floods America's political scene; ex-CIA analysts Ray McGovern and Elizabeth Murray urge President Obama to stop it.

(ROME) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meeting with President Barack Obama at the White House in 2009 President Obama needs to put an abrupt halt to the game of Persian Roulette about to spin out of control in the Persian Gulf. If we were still on active duty at the CIA, this is what we would tell him:

This informal memorandum addresses the escalating game of chicken playing out in the waters off Iran and the more general issue of what can be done to put the exaggerated threat from Iran in some kind of perspective.

Visions of yesterday, today and tomorrow

Put in about one teaspoonful of good spirits, a dash of fun, a pinch of folly, a sprinkling of play, and a heaping cupful of good humour.

(MANAMA, Bahrain) - Happy New Year 2012 Have you chilled your bubbly for the New Year's toast? Thought about resolutions you want to make, and will probably break? Before getting carried away with tomorrow and what can make the New Year a happy one, give a few moments to the year only hours from passing.

Will 2012 Bring Tribal War to Libya?

These days in Libya it is a good idea to memorize the name of the largest of the local militia and the name of its leader so when approached by the heavily armed unfriendly types...

(TRIPOLI) - Western aggression in Libya- Latuff The weather in Tripoli this New Year’s weekend is unseasonably bone chilling with heavy rains flooding the streets reminding this observer more of dreary London this time of year than the southern Maghreb coast of the Mediterranean.

My modest family run neighborhood hotel off Omar Muktar Street is clean and cheap, but my room has no heat except what eventually builds up under a stack of velour Turkish blankets.

Whether Or Not You Weather The Storm

There’s something God wants you to do, there’s something God wants me to do, and there are risky things that God calls us to do.

(CLEVELAND) - Pursuit of life Soren Kierkegaard, one of the greatest philosophers and theologians of a couple generations ago says we’ve interpreted the parable of the talents all wrong.

It’s the parable where a certain man goes on a journey and gives to one ten talents, to one five talents, to one only one talent. The guy with the ten talents invests it and comes out with ten talents more.

Politicians Want your Kid`s Blood and Guts Spilled in Iran

Attack Persia... and We'll Break America in Two

(SALEM) - Girl in Iran The seemingly inevitable war with Iran that warmongers are calling for must be something we all deserve- as the human cretins who have ruined this planet with ways of war and violence.

Regardless of how nonsensical it is, or how little sense it makes, American politicians who are parading as Christians, are piling on the propaganda about Iran and they are trying desperately to gain sufficient momentum to plunge this already pathetic country into its final showdown: World War Three.

Escaping the Military: Healing the Virus of Violence

From the Book RADICAL PEACE: People Refusing War by William T. Hathaway: A young Buddhist novice contributed this account, which we then revised together. To protect the people who have protected him, he wishes to be nameless.

(OLDENBURG, Germany) - Refusing war Back in high school I'd been good at languages but couldn't afford to go to college, so I joined the navy for the language training.

They have a program where if you pass an aptitude test, they'll send you to the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, for an intensive course that's worth almost a year of college credit.

National Poll: Public Rejects Candidates` Attacks on Courts

Voters Want Judges Accountable to the Constitution, not Congress

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Justice at Stake Americans solidly reject an array of proposals that would severely limit the role of federal courts, according to a new national public opinion survey released today by the nonpartisan Justice at Stake Campaign.

Voters oppose allowing Congress to limit the types of cases that the courts can hear—a proposal supported by four Republican candidates— or allowing Congress or the President to ignore or overturn Supreme Court decisions.
