Eve Carson Suspect Also Charged With Duke Slaying

Lawrence Alvin Lovette Jr has also been charged with first-degree murder and robbery in the death of Duke University student Abhijit Mahato.

One Arrested, One Sought for Eve Carson`s Murder

Police are still searching for 17-year-old Lawrence Alvin Lovett Jr.

(CHAPEL HILL, NC) - Demario James Atwater Early this morning the Chapel Hill Police Department received information that the individual appearing in the convenience store photograph was possibly in a residence in Durham.

At approximately 5:00 a.m., 21-year-old Demario James Atwater was taken into police custody after he was observed exiting the residence. Warrants have been served on Atwater charging him with 1st Degree Murder in the death of Eve Carson.

UPDATE: Person of Interest Detained in Eve Carson Murder

Eve Carson was found shot to death in a suburban neighborhood not far from the UNC campus at about 5:00 a.m. last Wednesday.

(CHAPEL HILL, NC) - Eve Carson Police in Durham, North Carolina have detained a person of interest in the murder investigation of UNC student body president Eve Carson several media outlets are reporting at this hour.

Durham officials turned the man over to police in Chapel Hill, where he is currently being held for questioning. The 22-year old was found shot to death in a suburban neighborhood not far from the UNC campus at about 5:00 a.m. last Wednesday.

A new surveillance camera image released Monday by the Chapel Hill Police Department which shows a man police are calling a 'person of interest' in the slaying of University of North Carolina student body president Eve Carson.

UNC Student Body President Eve Carson: Biography & Videos

Police recovered Carson's blue 2005 Toyota Highlander Thursday afternoon but have no leads or suspects in the case.

(CHAPEL HILL, NC) - Eve Marie Carson Eve Marie Carson, 22, was elected student body president at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in February 2007. Her term would have ended in April.

A native of Athens, Ga., Eve was born Nov. 19, 1985. She came to Carolina in the fall of 2004 as the recipient of a prestigious Morehead Scholarship. A member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, she was a pre-medicine student majoring in both political science and biology. As a North Carolina Fellow, she was part of a four-year leadership development program for undergraduates.
