Missing 8-Year-Old From Oregon Located in California; Mother Arrested

The supects daughter was in good condition and has been released to Child Protective Services.

(MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif. ) - Heidi Pietsch The Oregon State Police have been informed of the recovery of an 8-year old missing child and the arrest of her mother in Mammoth Lakes, California following a tip related to a kidnapping/parental abduction investigation that started in March 2005.

Information from Mammoth Lakes Police Department indicates that on Thursday, a FBI agent from the South Lake Tahoe office contacted their department related to a tip on a case that had been featured on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children website.

The case involved a female child, currently 8 years of age, and her mother, 33-year-old Heidi Pietsch (aka Roberts).

Three Climbers Missing on Oregon`s Mt. Hood

The climbers are reportedly well equipped but packed light for a quick trip.

(MT. HOOD) - Mount Hood Photo Courtesy: Portland Mountain Rescue. Rescuers are searching Mount Hood today for three missing climbers.

The men left the Cooper Spur ski resort to climb up the north side of the mountain and then down the south side to Timberline Lodge.

Authorities say the Hood River County 911 dispatch center received a call around 10 AM on Sunday after the three climbers failed to arrive at the Timberline Lodge on Saturday night.

Autopsy: Kim Died From Hypothermia, Exposure

Officials estimate that Kim traveled about 10.24 miles, but because of the route he took, ended up about 1.5 miles from the car.

(ROSEBURG) - James Kim Oregon State Police, Josephine County Sheriff's Office, and Jackson County Sheriff's Office want to thank the Kim family again for their support and kind words of appreciation regarding the search efforts to find James, Kati and their children.

UPDATE: Missing California Father Found Dead In Oregon Wilderness

The news is heartbreaking not only for the family, but for the over 100 searchers who spent the last few days and nights looking for James Kim, and the thousands that have kept hope.

(MERLIN, Ore.) - James Kim with daughters Penlope and Sabine The Oregon State Police has confirmed that at 12:03 PM the body of 35-year-old James Kim was located in the Big Windy Creek drainage area.

Kim had been leaving searchers clues as to his location.

The family issued this statement:

"The friends and community of the Kim family are deeply saddened by the news received today about James Kim. We want to send out our utmost thanks to the Search and Rescue teams who risked their lives in the efforts to bring James back to us, they are true heroes to risk their own lives for a stranger. As friends we know that we did everything we could to help in the search for the Kim family, which is our only comfort now... (more)

James Kim Search Update: Searchers Find Clothing, Cut-up Map, Left by Missing California Father

The focus of the search continues to be the Big Windy Creek Drainage about 30 miles west of Grants Pass north of Bear Camp Road. A 5-mile long canyon and is about five miles from where the car was found.

(MERLIN) - Searchers plan to drop 18 rescue care packages Wednesday with warm clothing, emergency gear and food in hopes missing San Francisco man James Kim could find one and survive until rescuers can locate him.

Officials said the packages contain orange sweat shirts, wool blankets, flares, MRE’s, handwarmers, flashlights, gloves and a handwritten note from the family of James Kim.

Oregon State Police spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings said during a morning press conference that searchers had found several items of clothing they believe were left by Kim as clues for rescuers.

Found were two gray long-sleeve shirts, a red short-sleeve shirt, a wool sock, a blue girls skirt, and an Oregon state map cut up in pieces.

Latest Update on Search for James Kim in Oregon

Summary of the afternoon briefing and a release on behalf of the Kim family, by Three Rivers Community Hospital

(GRANTS PASS) - James Kim and daughters Search efforts continue tonight for James Kim who last seen Saturday, December 2nd, leaving the location of his vehicle, which was found by a searcher Monday afternoon.

The focus continues to be the Big Windy Creek Drainage about 30 miles west of Grants Pass north of Bear Camp Road. According to the Josephine County Sheriff's Office, this section of focus is a 5-mile long canyon and is about five miles from where the car was found.

The following information was discussed at the Tuesday afternoon briefing:

* An article of clothing matching a description of a pair of pants reportedly worn by James Kim when he left the car Saturday morning found on a steep slope in the area of foot prints.

* A member of the search team from Jackson County Sheriff's Office was injured today under yet-to-be-determined circumstances. His injuries are non-life threatening and he is being transported by helicopter to Rogue Valley Medical Center for treatment.

Search Intensifies For James Kim

30-year old Kati Kim, and daughters 4-year old Penelope and 7-month old Sabine were found by search & rescue crews yesterday.

(GRANTS PASS) - photo: James, Kati and Sabine Kim. Search efforts have continued around-the-clock for 35-year-old James Kim who was last seen leaving the location where his vehicle was found by searchers Monday afternoon.

Kim was reported by his wife to have left their car Saturday, December 2nd, at 7:45 AM in attempt to obtain help.

He failed to return at the pre-determined time of 1:00 PM.

Approximately 100 individuals are involved with the search efforts focusing on the Big Windy Creek Drainage about 30 miles of Grants Pass north of Bear Camp Road.

FOUND! Mom and Kids OK: Father Still Missing

Mother and children found near the Rogue River waving an umbrella

(GRANTS PASS) - James Kim and daughters This afternoon, December 4th, at about 1:45 PM, Search & Rescue officials were notified that a vehicle and a female waving an umbrella were spotted by a helicopter search crew near the Rogue River in the area of Bear Camp Viewpoint off Bear Camp Road. This location is near the Curry / Josephine County line in Josephine County.

The helicopter was able to land and verified that the mother and two children were alive. The father reportedly was not with the vehicle. Additional search crews and resources are being diverted to the area to help try and locate the father.

Week-long Search for Kim Family Continues in Oregon

Tips continue to be called into the phone line of 800-452-7888, but none have led to locating the family or vehicle.

Family members 35-year old James Kim, 30-year old Kati Kim, 4-year old Penelope and 7-month old Sabine, failed to return to San Francisco from a trip to the Pacific Northwest. They were in the Portland area on Saturday, with friends, and left enroute to Gold Beach to stay at the Tu Tu Tun Lodge.

Search Crews Find Missing Jefferson Man

He was found over 300 feet down a steep embankment with his vehicle.

(DETROIT) - Linn County Sheriff's officers Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller says his deputies have located a missing Jefferson man who had been the subject of a search in the Detroit Reservoir area.

54-year-old David R. Zehr, called 911 at approximately 4:10 PM Sunday and told dispatchers he had been outside his vehicle which started to roll down an incline.

Zehr said he attempted to bodily stop the vehicle but was knocked over the bank and was suffering from a broken leg.

Zehr did not have a good idea of his location but was able to inform dispatchers he was south of the Detroit Dam.

Seven Linn County deputies and deputies from Marion County and US Forest Service personnel searched the roads throughout the night and all day Monday.
