New Mexico`s Governor Orders National Guard to Patrol Mexican Border

The move follows the shooting death of an Arizona rancher.

(SANTA FE) - Governor Bill Richardson, after meeting with top law enforcement officials this morning, ordered the National Guard to patrol the border with Mexico and ensure the safety of New Mexico citizens.

Governor Richardson is also urging the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense to increase the federal law enforcement presence at the border and make that presence permanent.

(WICHITA, Kansas) - Wichita, Kansas newspapers are reporting that the federal trial of a Haysville doctor and his wife on charges of illegally prescribing painkillers has been reset for April 26, 2010.

The trial of Dr. Stephen Schneider and his wife, Linda Schneider, a Licensed Practical Nurse who worked for him had been scheduled to start this week but lawyers asked for more time to prepare for the trial, which is expected to last two months.
