Kitzhaber Calls It Quits!

Since Oregon's Secretary of State was called home earlier this week, it has been clear that the torch was being passed.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber Oregon's only Governor to be elected for a fourth term is resigning.

Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber resigned effective next Wednesday, Feb. 18, in a letter submitted to Secretary of State Kate Brown. He met with his staff late this morning, then released this statement just after noon today.

Yamhill County Sheriff`s Office Arrests One Driver For DUII On Super Bowl Sunday

In the United States, the number of drunk driving deaths has been cut in half since 1980.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - police lights On Super Bowl Sunday, the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office conducted focused patrols to deter and remove intoxicated drivers from the road.

One driver, involved in a motor vehicle crash on Wilsonville Road near Star Mooring Lane in rural Newberg, was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants prior to the beginning of the actual game. The Sheriff's Office responded to three crashes total on Super Bowl Sunday.

SWAT Stand-off with Suspect in Drive-by Shooting Ends in Arrest

OSP troopers are continuing the investigation of a drive-by shooting in Northern Klamath County

(LA PINE, Ore.) - police lights Information from on-scene commanders indicates that just before 2:00 A.M., Sunday morning, 9-1-1 call centers received a report of shots being fired at or into a residence, south of La Pine. Troopers learned the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Gary Davis, of La Pine, had threatened a man at that location previously.

Shortly before 7:00 A.M., troopers tracked Davis to a residence in La Pine where he was staying with his girlfriend.

OSP F&W Troopers in Bend - Arrest Suspect in Trophy Mule Deer Kill

The illegal harvest of deer is taken very seriously.

(BEND, Ore.) - mule deer On November 24, 2014, Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife troopers in Central Oregon received information about a trophy class, 205" mule deer, killed the day prior under suspicious circumstances in the Metolius Wildlife Management Unit.

Members of the team began an investigation and as the investigation unfolded the hunter who shot the animal was contacted and ultimately provided a full confession to the illegal harvest of the buck deer.

Local Agencies Participate in Prescription Drug Take Back

(SALEM, Ore.) - Cadets at Drug Turn In On Saturday September 27th The Marion County Sheriff's Office in cooperation with the Drug Administration Agency and several local Police agencies will have drop sites to turn in prescription Drugs. The Marion County Sheriff's Office drop site will be in the parking lot of Roths I.G.A. which is located at 702 Lancaster Dr NE in Salem.

Salem Police will have a drop site at Peace Plaza which is located at 555 Liberty St SE in Salem. All drop sites will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Murderer Josh Cavett has his Day in Court

Whether it be a plea for 25 years or "True Life", Cavett is going up the river.

(PORTLAND, OR) - Josh Cavett in custody Almost exactly 6 months after he committed murder, Josh Cavett went before Multnomah County Judge LaBarre and the District Attorney today to formally present his prospective plea deal.

On October 12th, 2013, Josh Cavett shot his 27-year old wife at point blank in front of her two little girls, leaving the 5-year old to call for help. He snatched their 2-year old from the scene and put her at extreme risk, setting off an Amber Alert, until he was arrested.

Tragically, Jessie Cavett died a few hours later. The man she was divorcing, and had gotten a Restraining Order against to protect her and the children, has been in custody since late that same October night.
