Baserunning Errors Cost Volcanoes in 7-5 Loss

Hillsboro hopped on the board early with a three run first inning.

(KEIZER, Ore. ) - Salem Keizer Volcanoes Salem-Keizer entered the final game of a three-game series against the Hillsboro Hops looking for their third straight series win.

Hillsboro had other ideas, as a three-run rally in the top of the eighth gave the Hops a lead they would not give back, as they went on to defeat the Volcanoes 7-5 on Sunday night at Volcanoes stadium.

Volcanoes Win Wild One over Hops, 6-5

To lead off the third inning, Mende collected his first hit as a Volcano.

The Volcanoes entered the home-half of the ninth inning with a 6-4 lead in hand. Salem-Keizer reliever Eury Sanchez surrendered a two-out ground-rule double to Hops' nine-hole hitter Justin Gonzalez on a ball that bounced off of the outfield turf and cleared the outfield wall.
