Sri Lanka's ethnic cleansing program calls for demolition of another mosque that suddenly is determined to be 'in the wrong place'.

(SALEM / KALUTARA, Sri Lanka) - Salem-News.com Dozens of Buddhists held a demonstration today urging Sri Lanka's government to dismantle a mosque located in a Buddhist area. This, after mobs of Buddhist monks stormed the mosque at Dambulla last month.

Critics say it is simply another example of Sri Lanka's perpetual ethnic cleansing program that began with national independence in 1948.

In Sri Lanka sexual violence is being used as a tool of political oppression. Tamil women in the northeast, usually war widows without homes and confined to “transit camps,” are visited and raped at will by Sri Lankan armed forces.

(NEW YORK CITY) - Rape and horror for Tamil women in Sri Lanka Secretary Clinton spoke to the UN Security Council in September 2009 and urged the members to take a stand against sexual violence used as a tool of war.

In Sri Lanka, armed forces are using it as a tool of political suppression. In a letter to Clinton on May 1, Tamils for Obama requested that Clinton use her influence to stop it.

S&P Warns Sri Lanka of Credit Downgrade

The rupee has depreciated almost 20 percent since November 2011 with the worst fall happening since February.

(COLOMBO, Sri Lanka Xinhua) - Standard & Poor Sri Lanka, already struggling under high fuel prices, could be in for a credit downgrade along with its neighbor India if prices continue to increase and subsidies are not reduced, a credit agency report said here on Monday.

"In India and Sri Lanka, we expect fuel and related subsidies to markedly worsen fiscal and external deficits unless subsidy levels fall," Standard and Poor's said in a report, adding "In the absence of offsetting positive developments, these sovereigns could see negative rating actions as a result."
