Soldering Torch Sparks Residential Fire‏ in Hillsboro

Hillsboro Fire and Rescue reminds all homeowners who plan to use open flame devices to always have a fire extinguisher within reach.

(HILLSBORO, Ore.) - Hillsboro Fire Engineer Randy Tegen Fire investigators in Hillsboro say a homeowner replacing his own water heater sparked a one-alarm fire that damaged his Hillsboro home Wednesday afternoon.

Storm Smith with Hillsboro Fire says the fire at 132 SE 41st Avenue was reported to 9-1-1 dispatchers at 3:36 p.m. "When the first Hillsboro Firefighters arrived from the Parkwood Station #5, they found residents outside waiving them in and smoke pouring from the crawl spaces of the home."

Six People Injured in Single Vehicle Crash Near Klamath Falls (PHOTOS)

Oregon State Police troopers say speed and alcohol are suspected to be contributing factors in the crash.

(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) - Crash near Klamath Falls, Oregon 6-22-09 A Klamath Falls woman was seriously injured and several other people were also hurt in a single vehicle rollover crash that happened today just after 3:00 p.m. on Highway 66.

Oregon State Police Sgt. Robert Fenner says the crash happened when a 1996 Ford Explorer driven by 23-year old Melissa Green of Klamath Falls, was westbound on Highway 66 near milepost 44, about six miles west of Keno, Oregon.

One Man Dies and Two Injured in Portland Apartment Fire

Fatal Apartment Fire in North Portland‏

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Portland, Oregon Fire logo Portland Fire and Rescue crews were dispatched to an apartment fire at 5811 North Lombard Saturday at 11:31 p.m.

Lt. Rich Tyler with Portland Fire & Rescue says the first engine arrived at 11:33 p.m. to find lots of fire and smoke coming from a second story apartment.

Salem Man Seriously Injured in Explosion (UPDATE + VIDEO)

A neighbor says the man has a history of causing explosions inside his house.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Scene of explosion in Salem, Oregon 6-17-09 The Salem Police Department Hazardous Device Team or 'Bomb Squad' was called out Wednesday after an explosion severely injured a Salem man.

Salem Police and Fire were called to 1095 Norway St NE just before 7:00 p.m. last night after 42-year old Patrick Hibler, apparently attempting to manufacture some type of explosive material in the residence, caused a detonation which seriously injured him in several parts of his body.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Fire in Keizer, Oregon 6-18-09 A Keizer woman says her 14-year old son pulled his sister from the child's burning bedroom during a house fire this morning at 2:15 a.m.

Joel Stein, Fire Marshal with Keizer Fire, says the 6-year old sister was evaluated for possible smoke inhalation by Keizer Paramedics on scene but did not require transport to the hospital.

Salem Structure Fire Serves as a Summer Safety Reminder (VIDEO)

There were no injuries at this fire. It took about twenty minutes for crews to bring it under control.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Structure fire in Salem, Oregon 6-9-09 Firefighters in Salem, Oregon were busy Monday afternoon fighting a structure fire that broke out in a shed on Niles Street before spreading to an adjacent structure.

Our news photographer Jerry Freeman was actually on scene before firefighters arrived. This is not something that happens every day in a city that has a Class A fire department which Salem does.

Police Identify Hubbard Residents in Fatal Crash

The highway intersection is controlled by a stop sign for traffic on Monitor-McKee Road NE. It is not known at this time if one of the vehicles failed to stop.

(HUBBARD, Ore.) - Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation into Friday night's crash that killed two people and injured five others, three critically, at the intersection of Highway 214 and Monitor-McKee Road NE in Marion County.

The names of some of the involved people are being released and additional details may be provided this afternoon.

Lightning Strike Starts Salem House Fire

The fire was most probable cause by a lighting strike in that area.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Photo of daylight showing through the burned Salem house Salem Fire crews responded to a house fire today at 1055 Terrace Drive NW. The 4:42 p.m. call reported smoke coming from the roof of the house.

Deputy Fire Marshal Laird Case with Salem Fire, says when firefighters arrived, they discovered the fire was burning in the attic and roof of a vacant house. "Firefighters quickly gain access to the roof and attic area and extinguished the fire. The fire damage was limited to a portion of attic, roof, and second floor bedroom," Case said.

(JEFFERSON, Ore.) - North Santiam River Boaters on the lower North Santiam River should use caution on the section between Green’s Bridge and Jefferson. Two different areas have collected large amounts of debris which can cause serious danger to river traffic.
