A recent study by the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources confirmed that when “legacy lawsuits” are filed, these cases are decided strictly on the basis of objective scientific evidence.

(BATON ROUGE) - Louisiana Truth Louisiana landowners, who lease their lands to oil and gas companies to support the continued exploration and production of these resources in Louisiana say they are being unfairly attacked.

Representing 16 citizen groups, LouisianaTruth.org says the state's legislature should be deeply concerned about what they call irrational claims.

Federal Lawmakers Urge FDA to Require GMO Labeling

A ruling is expected later this year.

(WASHINGTON DC) - Capitol A bipartisan group of 55 members of Congress this week urged the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to require the labeling of genetically engineered (GE) foods.

The 45 House members and 10 senators joined in supporting a legal petition filed last year by the nonpartisan Center for Food Safety (CFS) on behalf of the “Just Label It” campaign that foods with genetically modified (GM) ingredients be labeled accordingly.

Marine Hangar Was `Witches Brew`

MCAS El Toro’s Hangar 296 was “ground zero” for TCE plume spreading miles into Orange County and the only building on the former base contaminated with radiation.

(IRVINE, CA) - Hangars at MCAS El Toro Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) El Toro has been an EPA Superfund since 1990, primarily from the TCE plume from Hangars 296 and 297 spreading into the Orange County aquifer.

Both hangars were over 200,000 square feet in area, constructed in 1944, and used 55 gallons drums of trichloroethylene (TCE) to decrease aircraft for decades.

The redactions were requested by the Navy/Marine Corps and granted by Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.

Merkley, DeFazio Introduce Bill to Ensure Americans Get Hired for Forest Work

Legislation Will Reform Temporary Visa Program.

(WASHINGTON DC) - Oregon forest photo by Austin King Salem-News.com Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley and Rep. Peter DeFazio introduced The American Jobs in American Forests Act to tighten restrictions on a visa program that was used to hire foreign workers at the expense of Oregon forest workers.

A Dept. of Labor investigation last year found federal stimulus funds were awarded to contractors in Oregon who underbid competition by using foreign laborers under the H-2B visa program.
