Corban Inks 11 Baseball Recruits

West Salem High School pitcher Caleb Henry joins the Warriors.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Corban College Baseball Corban University Head Baseball Coach, Jeff McKay, and Associate Head Baseball Coach, Jacob Garsez, announced on Wednesday morning that 11 players had signed letters of intent to play with the Warrior Baseball team.

"This 2014 recruiting class expectation is two-fold," said McKay. "First, the junior college and four-year transfers provide some needed reinforcements in key areas where we needed to add depth."

Corban Men`s Basketball Inks Seven Recruits

Follow Corban College Athletics all season long on Salem-News.com Sports.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Corban College Salem Oregon Corban University head men's basketball coach Steve Masten announced that seven recruits would be joining the Warrior men's basketball squad for the 2014-15 season.

Five of the seven recruits have ties to Oregon. With two playing high school basketball at South Salem and McKay High Schools in Salem.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Following a championship season in 2013, head men's soccer coach Aaron Lewis has announced his recruiting class of 10 standout players that will join Corban University in the fall of 2014.

For Lewis, this is his second official recruiting class while at the helm of the Warriors.

Corban Sweeps Top Journalism Awards at Competition

“Corban has made its name now. They came out of nowhere and surprised other schools, which are going to redouble their efforts,” said Karen Willoughby, Corban’s journalism instructor in 2005.

(SALEM) - Corban students Corban students took top awards at this year’s Baptist Press Collegiate Journalism Conference in Nashville, Tenn.

Corban’s Hilltop Yearbook took first place in the overall yearbook category, besting second-place-finisher University of Mary-Hardin Baylor and third-place-finisher Liberty University.

Corban’s yearbook’s editor was Michelle Zarfas, a junior and education major.

Corban Library, Bookstore Evacuated Due to Smoke

Firefighters said it appears that there was an electrical malfunction inside an electrical room.

(SALEM) - fire at corban art Fire crews were called out to Corban College on a report of a structure fire located at a campus building Tuesday.

Salem firefighters rolling up on the scene reported smoke inside the library/bookstore, at 5000 Deerpark Drive SE. The call came in just after 3:30 PM Tuesday.

All power was out to this building when firefighters made entry.

Firefighters determined the smoke was coming from an electrical room, where an apparent electrical malfunction had occurred.

New Women’s Residence Hall Opens at Corban College

The unofficial figure for current student enrollment is roughly 900, a 5 percent increase over last year.

(SALEM) - New women's dormitories at Corban Corban College students arriving “on the hill” were greeted by a changed skyline that now includes a brand-new Northwest-style women’s residence hall.

The $3.5 million as-yet-unnamed hall is the newest building in a series of recent construction projects. Like the others, it was added to serve a growing student body.

Corban College Ranked Eighth-Best in The West by U.S. News and World Report

Offering 45 majors and programs of study, it's the only Christian college to be ranked in the West's top 10.

(SALEM) - Corban College has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the eighth-best comprehensive college in the West.

Every year, U.S. News & World Report's America's Best Colleges edition scores colleges on a mix of factors, including reputation among peers, student retention and faculty resources.

The 2007 edition hit newsstands Friday.

Camp Teams Depart for Summer Volunteering

Twenty college students. Eighteen kids camps. One summer.

(SALEM) - Some of the Corban students shipping out for the summer For Corban College's five Camp Teams, the whirlwind summer of 2006 has just begun. These four-member teams will spend two months of their summer working at Christian summer camps scattered throughout the Northwest. In rented vehicles, they'll crisscross Oregon, Washington, Idaho and California to counsel at elementary, middle and high school camps.

One team, led by senior Lindsey Coy, even traveled by plane to reach their remote destination. She and her teammates are now working at Tanalian Bible Camp in Port Alsworth, Alaska. On Tuesday, June 20th, they'll fly south, return to
campus and pack their van for departure on Saturday, June 24 to summer camps in California.
