Humbug Apology and Demand for Deportation

(NEW DELHI) - Prasad Kariyawasam The government on Thursday summoned Sri Lanka's envoy to India for a meeting during which he apologised to Indian MPs for his comments that sought to link those questioning Colombo's human rights record with the Tamil Tigers.

"I would like to apologise to MPs of Tamil Nadu if I have caused any discontent or concern or distress in their minds. I feel sorry about that," Kariyawasam told reporters here after the meeting.

(HONG KONG) - Mr. Firoj Ahmed, AND Ms. Achma Bibi, wife of Firoj Last month, a team of 16 police officers reportedly from Basirhat Police Station, raided a family home at 2:30 a.m. without a warrant or proper authority.

The police assaulted the victims at their house and later arrested the husband, Firoj Ahmed, who is 23. The police kicked Firoj and hit him with their rifle butt and wooden batons.

(NEW DELHI Express Buzz) - India and Sri Lanka flag Government today sought to mollify agitated DMK and AIADMK members who demanded India's support to a resolution at UNHCHR against Sri Lanka for alleged war crimes saying no date has been fixed yet for discussing the matter.

"Our traditional stand has been that we have never supported any country-specific resolution at the UNHCHR," Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee told the Lok Sabha as DMK, AIADMK and CPI members rushed to the Well raising slogans on the issue.
