US Ranks #1 in World, Up From 5th Place in 2010

Only three countries in the top 20 have seen a decrease in their World Giving Index 2011 scores: Canada, Sri Lanka and Malta.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Charity The US now ranks the highest in terms of charity in a massive global survey that put the nation in fifth place in 2010, according to CAFAmerica, a member organization of the UK based Charities Aid Foundation International Network of Offices, providing charitable financial services to individuals, global corporations, charities, and foundations.

According to those surveyed, two out of three Americans said they donated money to charity (65 percent), more than two out of five volunteered their time (43 percent) and roughly three out of four helped a stranger (73 percent).

650 Missing After Catastrophic Flood Strikes Philippine Islands

Experts warn that the death toll will be significantly higher before it is over.

(MINDANAO, Philippines) - Sendong flood hits Philippines Flashfloods that were triggered by tropical storm Sendong hit Cagayan de Oro City Saturday morning in the Philippines, leaving in its wake total devastation in many areas of Mindanao. The number of casualty continues to rise with death toll placed at 652, and nearly 800 are still missing.

Experts warn that the vast number of missing people could drive the death toll to more than 1400.

Currently just 55% of aid worldwide is 'real aid' according to ActionAid’s Real Aid 3 report released earlier this year.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Blair and Kagame The international community must seize the chance to put countries in the driving seat of their own development, anti-poverty agency ActionAid says, as the fourth High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness opens in Busan, Korea.

ActionAid is calling for donors to agree to fund developing country government plans which directly benefit poor communities and enable citizens to hold their governments to account.

Homelessness in Britain

(LONDON) - Homeless in the UK We need to all raise awareness on Homelessness in Great Britain. As you may know the number of homeless People is increasing and nowadays many places that were still better than nothing for the night have been fenced or closed down. By chance I had to use trains recently at night and what I saw was appalling.

In the Leeds train station there even was a young girl with her mother, the mother was on a bench near her daughter who rested in a ready bed with "Hello Kitty" design - she was this young!-
