19-Year-Old Teen Killed in Accident Near Amity

The crash was not witnessed, but a local resident heard it and called 911.

(AMITY, Ore. ) - Amity Fatal Crash A 19-year-old girl was killed Thursday morning in a single vehicle crash that occurred along Highway 153 (SE Amity Road) east of Amity near SE Burch Hill Road in Yamhill County.

According to Sergeant Brad Hessel, at approximately 10:20 a.m., a 1999 Toyota Camry four-door driven by Ariel Dawn Dumler was traveling eastbound on Highway 153 when, for an unconfirmed reason, the driver lost control on a slight left curve.

Two Injured When Truck Plows Into Back of Pickup

No arrests or citations have been issued yet.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police Oregon State Police are continuing to investigate a Tuesday morning crash between a truck and pickup on Ore. Highway 99E between Amity and McMinnville.

Oregon State Police spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings says one person was seriously injured when the truck he was driving slammed into the rear of a stopped pickup just before noon.

Military Honors for War of 1812 Veteran, Gabriel Walling, in Amity

Dedication of bronze plaque to Gabriele Walling noting his ‘War of 1812’ military service.

(AMITY, OR) - Gabriel Walling served in the War of 1812 Gabriel Walling (1788-1857) is interred in the Amity Pioneer Cemetery which is a registered historic cemetery with the state of Oregon Parks and Recreation Heritage Programs.

Until recently, Gabriel Walling was not recognized as a veteran of the ‘War of 1812.’

Fire Devstates Amity Apartment Building

It took firefighters an hour and a half to get the blaze under control.

(AMITY, Ore.) - Amity, Oregon apartment fire 25 Feb 2011 An apartment fire in Amity Friday night led to the total destruction of a building that has long been a part of this rural town in the Mid-Willamette Valley between Salem and McMinnville.

Local resident Paul Hendrix says a number of people live in the multi-level apartment building but luckily there were no injuries. The fire destroyed a building containing both apartments and businesses, a spokesperson with the Amity Fire Department told reporters.

Driver Arrested Following Fatal Traffic Crash North of Salem

One driver, 58-year old Alan J. Olson of Salem, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Amity Man Dies in Sledding Accident

A tragic turn for a family enjoying the Oregon snow is a harsh reminder of the risks.

(AMITY, Ore.) - Yamhill County badge Kenneth John Meyer was sledding with his wife and son outside of McMinnville when, at 11:48 AM, his sled left the driveway and slid into the path of a northbound 2004 Mazda pickup, according to police. He was killed by the impact.

Investigators believe icy roadways may have been a factor in the crash.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore. ) - OSP crash photo Two people died and three others received serious injuries following a Monday evening two-vehicle head-on crash on Lafayette Highway about six miles south of McMinnville.

At approximately 8:20 PM, a gold 1998 Pontiac sedan driven by 23-year-old Amanda J. McGinnis, from Salem, was northbound on Lafayette Highway near milepost 3 when it veered across the centerline into the southbound lane and hit head-on with a maroon 2004 Hyundai SUV driven by 53-year-old George E. Hatch, from Amity.
