Oregon Mother Won’t be Charged in Infant Stun Gun Abuse Case

The child remains in the protective custody of DHS.

(ALBANY) - The woman who turned her husband into authorities last month after he allegedly used a 100,00 volt stun-gun device on their 18-month-old son multiple times will not face any charges.

21-year old Jennifer Whittman was cleared by investigators of any criminal wrongdoing in the case, Albany police said.

Carter said investigators learned that Jennifer, who had caught her husband using the device on the child before, did the right thing by turning him in after the latest incident.

“She told investigators that when she confronted him about the first incident of abuse, her husband, 23-year-old Rian James Whittman, told her that it was never going to happen again, but then on Saturday, Feb. 3rd he did it again, and she immediately came to us for help,” Carter said.

Oregon Pastor Arrested for Using Wooden Paddle to Discipline Teenage Son

Police said the father used the paddle to discipline his child as a form of corporal punishment.

(ALBANY) - Salem-News.com An Albany pastor was in a Benton County courtroom Tuesday to face second-degree assault and first degree criminal mistreatment charges after he allegedly stuck his 13-year-old son multiple times with a wooden paddle.

Albany police Capt. Eric Carter says when police arrived they found the boy with welts, bruising, and red marks, on his thighs, arms and buttocks.

Oregon State Police Detective finds Injury Crash With Ejected Child Near Albany

Troopers are investigating to determine if she was in the child safety seat when the car was being driven at the time of the crash.

Grand Jury Increases Charges Against Oregon Father who Used Stun Gun on Infant Son

Police say the toddler was attacked as many as ten times.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Stun gun The Albany man who allegedly used a 100,000 volt stun-gun device on his 18-month-old son will face stiffer charges, and is now out of jail.

A grand jury has returned an indictment charging 23-year-old Rian James Wittman with two counts each of first-and second-degree assault, all of which are Measure 11 crimes. Wittman posted bail on Monday.

Police Offer Background Information on Wrong Way Drivers

According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, between 2000 and 2004 there were 87 reported crashes statewide involving a wrong way driver resulting in 11 fatalities and 83 injuries.

(ALBANY) - Fatal crash from the July 4th weekend in 2006 State Police in Oregon have a few thoughts they wanted to share with drivers in the wake of Sunday night's tragic crash involving a wrong way driver northbound on Interstate 5 in the Albany area. Police say the driver that caused the crash was intoxicated.

Salem Woman Driving Wrong Way on I-5 Kills Two Eugene Symphony Members

The northbound lanes on I-5 were closed until 3:00 AM as northbound traffic was diverted off at the Highway 34 interchange.

The two victims are members of the Eugene Symphony returning to their homes after a Sunday rehearsal.

Albany police Capt. Eric Carter says 21-year old Jennifer Whittman told investigators that she caught her husband, 23-year old Rian James Whittman, using the device on their son about three weeks ago.

Albany Teen Escapes Attempted Kidnapping

The suspect vehicle is described as a two-door car possibly a Honda or an Acura.

(ALBANY) - Albany police logo A 15-year-old girl was able to escape from a man who tried to pull her into his vehicle Sunday night on a southeast Albany street.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, in his late 30s to early 40s, with short or medium-length black hair, a mustache, crooked teeth and a chipped front tooth.

(ALBANY) - Rian James Whittman A 21-year old mother contacted Albany Police Saturday afternoon to report child abuse allegations against her husband.

She told officers that her husband, 23-year old Rian James Whittman, shot their 18-month old son repeatedly with a stun gun causing injury.

Investigators say Whittman used a 100,000 volt stun-gun multiple times on the boy over an approximately 3-week period.
