Oregon Downs Rutgers to Stay Undefeated

Overall Oregon hit .411, while holding the Scarlet Knights to a .053 attacking percentage.

EUGENE, Ore. - It was another victory and another three-game sweep (30-11, 30-16, 30-13) for Oregon as the Ducks improved to 8-0 with a win over Rutgers (1-6) at McArthur Court on Friday night.

While maintaining its eight-match undefeated streak, Oregon has yet drop a game in 24 played this year.

Sophomore Sonja Newcombe matched her season high, leading both teams with 13 kills, and adding two digs and two blocks.

For the eighth-straight match, junior Gorana Maricic reached double figures with 10 kills. The Ducks’ points leader (127.5), hit .750 on the night.

Overall Oregon hit .411, while holding the Scarlet Knights to a .053 attacking percentage.

It marks the fourth time this season Oregon has held an opponent under a .100 hitting percentage.

The Ducks also recorded a season-high 11 services aces in the match, led by sophomore setter Nevena Djordjevic, who set a new career high with four.

Sophomore libero Amanda Westrick played all of game three, setting new career highs with two assists and eight digs. The Bonney Lake Wash., native also had a service ace.

Djordjevic and freshman setter Rachel Morris combined for 31 assists.

Junior Marija Milosevic, in her first year after transferring from South Carolina, added six kills, five digs and two assists.

Oregon at Rutgers will play one more match tomorrow with start time set for 7 p.m. at McArthur Court.
