CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State University head football coach Mike Riley announced Wednesday that senior receiver Sammie Stroughter is expected to play in Thursday’s night’s non-conference football game between the Beavers (1-0) and Cincinnati Bearcats (1-0) at Nippert Stadium.

Riley indicated that Stroughter, an Associated Press Third Team All-American last season, will not start, but will play at receiver and possibly as a punt returner.

The Sacramento native accounted for 1,293 receiving yards last season on 74 receptions, including five touchdown scores. He also scored three touchdowns on returns.

Stroughter missed last Thursday's 24-7 win over Utah and considerable practice time in August while dealing with personal issues.

Kickoff for Thursday’s ESPN nationally televised game is scheduled for 4:46 p.m. PDT.

Coverage of the game begins at 12:30 p.m. on KEJO (1240 AM) in the mid-Willamette Valley, 1:30 p.m. on the Beavers’ Portland flagship station 860 AM KPAM and two hours over the entire Beaver Sports Radio Network.
