TEMPE, Ariz. - It’s been a bit of a house of horrors for Oregon State when it comes to Sun Devil Stadium, except for New Year’s Day 2001 when the Beavers overwhelmed Notre Dame 41-9 in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

Other than that, the Oregon State football program has lost 15 straight in Tempe -- it’s one of the last obstacles that the program has to put behind it in terms of winning on the road.

Of course another headline maker is that ASU’s Dennis Erickson coaches in his first Pac-10 Conference game since he led OSU to a 45-24 win over Oregon Nov. 23, 2002.

Erickson coached at Idaho last season and led the Vandals into OSU’s Reser Stadium, losing to Mike Riley and the Beavers 38-0 on Sept. 23.

ASU is coming off a 34-13 win over the San Diego State Aztecs, thanks to the 161-yard, two TD performance from Keegan Herring. Rudy Carpenter also threw for 200 yards and two scores in the win over the Aztecs.

SUCCESSFUL ROAD GAMES

While it’s struggled at Arizona State, Oregon State has been successful of late on the road overall posting an 8-4 record over the last three seasons.

Only USC (10-2) has more away game victories in that same span -- one of its losses was at OSU last season, snapping the Trojans’ 27-game conference win streak.

WE ALWAYS SEE THESE GUYS EARLY

For the fourth time in five years Oregon State opens its conference season against Arizona State.

In 2003 the Beavers won at home 45-17, but lost in 2004 in Tempe 27-14 and in 2005 at Reser Stadium 42-24.

The two programs don’t meet next year until Nov. 1 in Homecoming at Reser Stadium -- the Beavers ‘08 conference opener is Sept. 27 at home against USC.
